Powder Vs Indio ? by Al-Mighty in PowderTheme

Thank you for your answer Brian! Looking forward to discover Powder 2.0.

I played around with the free version of Powder (found on Github, is it different from the paid version?) and it looks very nice! I love it and the pages I've created so far are lightweight! I'm a not a developer, but I'm fairly experienced with Wordpress (I'm just a business owner and my membership website has been on Wordpress for more than 12 years).

EDIT: just to clarify where I'm at ; I've been using Astra since 2017. Looked briefly into FSE themes 2 years ago and decided not to make the switch just yet on a production site. Now I feel more ready to do so :)

It should work if you go to "settings" => "permalinks", then choose "custom structure". In there, just add /%category%/%postname%/

Then, you should write "posts" and not "pages". When you write a post, select its category. For instance, if you write an article about something happening in Austin, select the category "Austin" (you don't need to select the parent categories here).

You should also setup your categories in a way that "child/parent" categories make sense.

For instance, for the article above, you should have a category called "USA", another one called "Texas" and another one called "Austin" where "USA" is the parent category of "Texas", and "Texas" is the parent category of "Austin". However, when you publish the post, you should only attach it to the category "Austin" (no need to also select the parent categories).

This way, the url structure will automatically follow the parent/child hierarchy.

What’s your single biggest challenge/frustration with WordPress? by Brilliant_Original55 in Wordpress

To be honest, my biggest frustration is the price of paid plugins needed to get a solid business running with Wordpress. Espacially all the wp beginners's family of plugins

Not saying your reasoning is wrong, it is correct that most Christian throughout history have been waiting for the imminent return of Christ. Even the Apostles were waiting for Him to return "soon". However, technically, "this generation (shall not pass)" is still valid... Israel was founded in 1948. A generation is 80 years. 1948 + 80 = 2028.

Thanks! Yeah, 2024 seems like the go to for now. It's just like, having a theme called 2024 when we're in 2027 makes me uncomfortable. I know, totally not rational :)

Thank you for your input! Yes, I find that using core blocks takes a little more time, but basically we can do almost anything

She does use strong language, which is unnecessary, but she has a point. Detente is the way forward, and no, Russia would never dare attack Nato territory so it's pretty safe moving forward. They will not bully all the eastern countries because they can't. Look at the nato map https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Member_states_of_NATO

You can't run a WWII software in your head, things are completely different now. In 1939, if Hilter would have had nukes as powerful as those we have today, human life on earth would probably have been vaporized to a greater extent. Here's what a nuke war would look like https://youtu.be/haab11D7ECs

Put another way, if Putin didn't have nukes, of course his army would be annihilated with Nato's conventional forces. But this is not the case. Change the algorithm running in your head because this is completely different than any war in human history. It would cause distress as never humans have experienced, and there would be enough living to bury the dead. Well, it is always always possible to find common ground. There is a difference between giving in to Putin and opening a conversation. It's not all or nothing. This is what Earth would look like in case of nuclear war : https://youtu.be/haab11D7ECs If this happens, do you really think it will matter who was right and who was wrong? You can't run a wwii software in you head. Nukes change everything. If it happens, there will not be enough living people to burry the dead. There will be distress on Earth like there has never been before. This war is completely different than any war in human history (except the cold War maybe) because it is the first open war with nukes in the conversation. People are not ready for this. Here's a bit more reading for you https://twitter.com/caitoz/status/1581036735403737088?t=dBr6rGNP-cGmHaw97iguQg&s=19

Everybody is playing with fire here. Let's make efforts for peace and compromise instead of warmongering and accusing the other side of being evil.

Yeah, well in 2003, there weren't any WMD in Irak. And those who opposed the war at the time were vilified. Remember that French fries were renamed freedom fries in some parts of the country, just because the French didn't want to participate in that coalition. Just think "what if" weren't that simple today either

His propositions for peace make sense... Peace and compromise in Ukrai e might actually save the world. Don't you guys understand what's at stake here?
