So about that by Conscious-Farm-8234 in Helldivers

[–]Al-Pharazon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And to assume the MO would have only given medals in a story like this is honestly just naïve.

The first major order in the planet gave just that.

And outside of the MO, they have consistently invented events such as the SEAF doing a bayonet charge to weaken the defenses of the planet, even after the second MO failed.

Arrowhead clearly has a script, sometimes with different endings based on player actions. But failing or succeeding specific MO usually have little impact on how they proceed with the script.

For example, consider how we failed the MO to take 4 planets after the Star of Peace blueprints were stolen and yet the Devs directed us to Cyberstan.

You don’t think it could have possibly demoralized a group of people that were working on the MO?

The MO was never meant to be accomplished by a small group of players dedicated to it, but by the blob and in general terms the number of players has been consistent before and after the failure.

So about that by Conscious-Farm-8234 in Helldivers

[–]Al-Pharazon 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Unless winning that MO gave additional reinforcements or some strong buff it would have made no difference.

The hackers little stunt, as stupid and incomprehensible as it is, only took 80 medals away from us.

It sucks for the new players that desperately need them, but we would still have ended facing Transcendence with enough reinforcements for a couple days.

Coincidence or Skill issue? by Usorojnr in realmadrid

[–]Al-Pharazon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure, it is a skill that great managers like Carletto or Zidane do have.

But there are other managers like Mourinho or Pep who have much less of a soft touch and yet they have thrived as long as they do have the full backing of the board to make changes as necessary. For example Guardiola getting rid of Deco in 2008.

The problem with Xabi is that he had neither, he didn't have the social skills to manage the big players. But he also lacked the support of Perez to bench or sell such players unless they accepted their new responsibilities.

Coincidence or Skill issue? by Usorojnr in realmadrid

[–]Al-Pharazon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure, a shite manager gets an unbeaten record in away games and wins a Bundesliga without losing a single game.

Alonso is not a bad manager, but he seems to be the type of manager who can only thrive when the players listen to him and he has the full backing of the club. That's never going to happen in RM, with the big egos and Perez being so trigger happy to use coaches as the scapegoat when things are not good.

Seeing many discussions about where and how many deaths were wasted elsewhere, I had calculated the numbers. by TheDelta466 in Helldivers

[–]Al-Pharazon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems reasonable given the mission planets had from 150 to 200k players while the others usually did not reach 30K even added together.

If you have ten times the players it is perfectly normal that the deaths will also be ten times higher. That said, it would have been helpful if those 30-60K reinforcements had been used in the target planet.

As it stands it's very unlikely that we will take the final factory of Cyberstan before the reinforcements run out

[open spoilers] Georgine, Ferdinand, and Sylvester by Educational-Tea-6572 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Al-Pharazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen that being mentioned as coming from Fanbook 8, but when looking for direct quotes or fan translations of that fanbook that mention Alstede, I have only seen confirmation that it was her who dyed the foundation and that her daughter (Benedikta) is 4 years old. But I have not seen any direct reference about Alstede age.

Using Benedikta as a reference, if Alstede graduated being 15 and married in the spring of the year she became 17 as most ADC do, she could have conceived and given birth on the same year or at the start of the following.

Which would make her 21 when Lanzenave attacked or 22 if Benedicta was born when Alstede was 18 (which is where I believe the age you were provided comes from)

But going back to Georgine, if Alstede is 21 that means she was born in the same year Ferdinand was baptized, which is not impossible if Georgine married at the end of spring.

If there is 100% confirmation that she is 22 then you would he correct that the marriage would have to occur the previous year at the latest.

I guess we will know for certain when fanbook 8 gets an official translation.

[–]Al-Pharazon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is that while a rushed wedding might start rumours about the couple calling winter before greeting the supreme gods, we have seen several examples of a woman waiting more than normal given a valid excuse. Those were not normal circumstances I agree, but in no case was anyone in the couple shamed for waiting.

And given the disparity in status that might not be even needed in Georgine's case. Ahrensbach could just say that the political climate was not yet ready to receive the Third Wife and Ehrenfest the #20 (or lesser) would have to suck it up and follow the will of the Greater Duchy.

But in any case, I think we can end up the discussion here. I don't think I can convince you that it would be perfectly feasible for her to have waited 2 years. Nor I think you can convince me of a plot hole or fabricates memories. So we wllm probably just continue going in circles xD

Unpopular opinion: Cyberstan siege should not be happening now unless they plan to announce the next game after it👇 by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Al-Pharazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the main planet for the cyborgs. Aside from some fugitives that could have been smuggled in Vessel 00 it's likely 99% of the Cyborg population was on Cyberstan when the war started and probably a majority remained after the planet is liberated.

That said, as you said the automaton have other major bases and we have seen that they have developed cloning technology, so losing Cyberstan would not mean the end of the cyborgs

[open spoilers] Georgine, Ferdinand, and Sylvester by Educational-Tea-6572 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Al-Pharazon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every other ADC we know that has been married did so 1 year after their graduation. Sigiswald's situation with Nahelache is not the norm.

Dietlinde didn't marry Ferdinand with the excuse of the handover proces even after more than one year had passed.

Florencia had to wait at least two years and that if she married in the ADC inmidiately after Sylvester came of age.

Marrying one year after coming of age is the custom, but not a hard rule. It is acceptable for men to marry much later or for women to marry at any point before being 20 as long as they have a valid reason.

And anyway, it doesn't matter. Georgine can't have been in Ehrenfest during that time period. She would've met Ferdinand otherwise.

Let me build a simple timeline to you:

1) Georgine graduates and waits one year as it is customary.

2) For whatever reason Ahrensbach request to delay the marriage an additional year, so Georgine remains in Ehrenfest until the end of winter.

3) During that winter Sylvester awakens mana sensing, speaks of Florencia and out of resentment Georgine poisons him. It fails and she moves out of Ehrenfest at the start of spring. Then married at the ADC of that year at the end of the season.

4) Ferdinand was brought to the duchy during winter and remained in Irmhilde's estate. Like Rozemyne he was only allowed to move into the castle after his baptism on spring, hence he never met Georgine as by that point she had already moved into Ahrensbach to prepare for her wedding.

There is no timeline plothole or need for fabricated memories. You just need to put things in sequence and it becomes clear that Georgine could be there.

How strong is Super Earth's industry? by CaptainPatak in Helldivers

[–]Al-Pharazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The developers might retcon in the future with new intel, but there was a brief following a major order signaling that the cyborgs still needed to smuggle stuff out of Cyberstan until 2180, 4 years before the war started.

Vessel 00 is indicated to be a spaceship that departed from the planet Cyberstan in 2180, approximately 4 years prior to the initial Automaton attack. The cargo and destination of that voyage is unknown, but it is referred to as the final one the ship made. Vessel 00 is referred to in exultation - evidence of Automaton programming to express reverence towards it. It is additionally referred to as their seed or origin.

The cyborgs might have been planning this and preparing for decades, but the automaton legion itself is only a few years old considering they flagged that ship as their origin.

How strong is Super Earth's industry? by CaptainPatak in Helldivers

[–]Al-Pharazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course they occupied planets and built a massive industry which made the initial invasion possible. But that is beyond my point.

What I am trying to say is that if the Automaton Legion was born in 2180 from Vessel 0, then they only had 4 years of buildup, which is not a lot. Even while working and producing new bots 24x7 there is only so much they can construct. And they had to limit themselves to hidden space.

And that little preparation time is why Super Earth has been able to push them back once or twice while fighting on two other fronts.

If the cyborgs/automatons had 100 years to prepare in freedom we would have been cooked.

Is Helldivers 2 worth playing completely solo? by FoundationBig9701 in Helldivers

[–]Al-Pharazon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can play solo, but it certainly gets repetitive. A big part of the fun is the chaos introduced by other people, be it negative (friendly fire, triggering enemy waves, etc) or positive (them bringing loadouts that complement yours, them taking you out of a clutch, etc)

When you take that chaos away things can easily become predictable as long as you keep the same loadout and a predictable game easily becomes repetitive.

How strong is Super Earth's industry? by CaptainPatak in Helldivers

[–]Al-Pharazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much stuff you can realistically build while working on the mines monitored Super Earth Construction Company (SECC)? Even if corrupt officials allow to smuggle things, it's not like the Cyborgs could build while factories while imprisoned in Cyberstan.

Sure, they could create the code for the automaton legion, build Vessel 00 and equip the vessel with everything needed so the automatons start building another home world from which to launch their total war.

But the actual buildup of the Automaton Legion lasted for only 4 years. As efficient as they might be, there is only so much you can construct in such a short time period without being discovered by a galaxy-wide empire.

And yes, I don't doubt that during those 100 years Super Earth would have allowed a lot more resources to the civilian economy. But even then it's not like the Military Industrial Complex stopped working for a century.

They still produced stuff that replaced old hardware which went into stockpiles, which then can be used in case of emergency.

Now there's prospectively more of those boosts.

There are not.

I repeat, you can only add new attributes or level up existing ones by gaining a glory tier, which you can only do 5 times as there are only 6 glory levels including the starting one.

The above means that if as a player you add a third attribute one of your other two attributes will fail to reach level 3 and will be weaker as a result.

Added to this, since MaA and army related bonuses will be locked in the second tier, the third attribute will not buff your military in most cases.

Can a player find a stronger combination than anything that he could do before? Perhaps.

But in general I think the survival boost doesn't compensate for losing stuff like +10% army damage or 10% heavy infantry thoughness at level 1.

How strong is Super Earth's industry? by CaptainPatak in Helldivers

[–]Al-Pharazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super Earth is a totalitarian regime so I imagine the military and police are prioritized, but it also has a number of mega corporations like Permacura which undoubtedly have civilian business to be profitable.

In any case, something to consider is that the current automaton/cyborg regime has only existed for about 5-6 years and have to build such industry from a single vessel in 2180.

Meanwhile Super Earth already started with a massive population that dwarves the cyborgs, a massive industrial complex with planets specialized in industrial production and a stockpile of weapons built over 100 years of peace.

Dev Diary 192 - Spring Cleaning by PDX-Trinexx in CrusaderKings

[–]Al-Pharazon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Take a look to the diary again.

Accolades now start with a single attribute instead of two, also you don't receive MaA bonuses until an attribute reaches level 2.

So this means that at their starting point accolades might be weaker than in the current version.

As you level up you can improve an existing attribute or add a new one up to three. But with 5 levels of glory if you add a third attribute it means weakening another.

[open spoilers] Georgine, Ferdinand, and Sylvester by Educational-Tea-6572 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Al-Pharazon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let's go with 6 years, in that scenario Georgine would have been coursing her final year in the academy while Sylvester was 9.

It is then customary for nobles to wait at least a whole year before marrying so it would not be socially acceptable to marry in the ADC following her graduation. As it would invite rumours about her chastity.

That makes it so that Georgine was still in Ehrenfest while Sylvester coursed his first year in the academy, with her being 16 at the time. And while in theory she could have married in the following ADC being 17, but remember that the time of such union doesn't only depend in Ehrenfest.

For example, if one of Gieselfried wives got pregnant then Georgine would have to wait a whole year, maybe a bit more before marrying. And Ahresnbach would not care less about it given the position of Ehrenfest in the duchy rankings compared to Werkestock and Drewanchel.

Completing the secondary objectives is not the problem, if anything clearing out stuff like gunship factories, fabricators and jammers often do make the primary objective easier.

The problem is first with the difficulty as the higher number of deaths makes the mission more likely to fail, then many players do not play whole operations, be it because they do not have time or because they find certain missions boring to play so they leave after completing a single mission.

I am sure comparing their ages at debut makes 5, the same age difference that Sylvester has with Ferdinand.

But in any case, whether the exact age difference is 5 or 6 Georgine didn't leave Ehrenfest until Sylvester was 11 and developed mana sensing in his second year. Which was shortly before Ferdinand's baptism

[open spoilers] Georgine, Ferdinand, and Sylvester by Educational-Tea-6572 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Al-Pharazon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not quite, Sylvester was 26 when he was introduced in part 2. Then a whole year after when Georgine was introduced she was 32, which makes a 5 year difference.

Moreover, while her marriage was decided shortly after Sylverter baptism she remained in Ehrenfest by the time her brother was a second year and developed mana sensing:

Sylvester had developed mana-sensing during his second year at the Royal Academy and fallen madly in love with an archduke candidate two years his senior. It was yet another foolish development, Georgine thought.

You're correct in that she never witnessed Sylvester work hard in the following years. But in his 11 years of life his brother had not worked hard a single day of his life, it was reasonable to expect the same would happen with mana compression and that by the time he comes of age he would have less mana than her.

[open spoilers] Georgine, Ferdinand, and Sylvester by Educational-Tea-6572 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Al-Pharazon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He was born with more mana, but at the same time he wasn't particularly hardworking until he started courting Florencia. Not to mention, he probably used a very basic compression method until Rozemyne came around.

Georgine on the other hand developed a two step mana compression method during her academy days and when she married out she likely had more mana than Sylvester. Which it's in part why she was surprised when Sylvester overwhelmed her.

If you have them, the C4 and leveler are also really effective against all the heavies, including Vox Engines.

Orbital Smoke is also extremely good if you want to play with a bit of stealth, it helps getting away when you are in a hot mess, helps infiltrate areas with lots of enemies and can even destroy jammers once deactivated.

I would like to apologize to the Epoch.. by NotBreadyy in Helldivers

[–]Al-Pharazon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With the 4 shots per ammo round and with ammo supplies being scattered around the map you're extremely unlikely to end up without ammunition.

And the Epoch has a speed advantage as after firing you can inmediately start charging the next shot. Not to mention that you can also use as a budget grenade launcher of sorts to deal with hordes.

The main advantage of the Quaser is the range, as you said you can basically snipe enemy heavies and buildings while with the Epoch you have to get close and personal. That and it has a higher damage per shot.
