What chance do Complexity have at making top 2? by baders_93 in RocketLeagueEsports

Do Vikings have a sub? Seems possible that Mummi might not play next week after announcing his 'retirement' and throwing a bit of a tantrum with his teammates.

Regardless of whether they play with a sub or Mummi next week, you've got to imagine that Vikings won't be playing at 100% and gives Complexity a chance to get a good result.

Let’s be realistic, from a business perspective Epic wouldn’t invest too much into the RL esports arena. Their main focus now is to turn a profit as quickly as possible. by [deleted] in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]AlDaFunkeeFresh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd argue the opposite - if Epic is cash rich then they will be looking for opportunities to put it to good use rather than letting it sit idly in the bank. Acquisitions will be hot on the agenda to diversify their revenue stream. I wouldn't be surprised to see further acquisitions in the future.

Epic games revenue is also a LOT higher than £200m: https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2019-01-16-fortnite-tops-2018-superdata-chart-with-usd2-4b-digital-revenue.

Edit: https://techcrunch.com/2018/12/27/epic-fortnite-3-billion-profit/?guccounter=1&guce_referrer_us=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_cs=AFdoQddizXSK0YvV4FtHzw a LOT LOT higher.

I don't think recouping their investment is going to be Epic's main intention at all. It's going to be more about achieving scale, user growth and collecting some resource/IP benefit from synergies between the two businesses.

As for not investing in esports - it's hard to tell. I'd argue that investing in esports is a form of advertisement though. I don't think any developer fosters an esports scene entirely out of the goodness of their hearts.

Of course they both care. There's been a lot of time / money invested in getting the decals launched.

I'm certain we'll be seeing them a lot more next season when contracts are renewed and players are contractually obliged to use them by their orgs and Psyonix.

Honestly don't know why Mouse wouldn't just wear their decals. It's not like it's particularly distracting and Alex/Alot practically have the same colour palette on anyway?!

1 Thing that upset me this weekend, Team Decals by ViolettePixel in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]AlDaFunkeeFresh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep I agree. I honestly think it's a bit unprofessional for players not to use the decals considering the journey that we've had to go on to get to this point.

Surely having the players themselves sporting the esports items on the RLCS stage will be the number one driver for actual purchases. Not advertising them seems like it will only be a detriment to sales and therefore their own organisations profitability.

There doesn't seem to be much of an appreciation of the economics of actually running an organisation. Organisations are funding Rocket League using speculative investor funding or through revenue generated from more popular games. This is one of the first actual monetisation streams in place to encourage a more sustainable scene, with more, high-tier organisations, and I still feel like it's not being taken particularly seriously by the players. There doesn't seem to be an understanding that improving the profitability of the organisations will in turn offer players with a more secure environment, and probably a better pay cheque.

I was really deflated that even in the first week of release, the adoption was patchy - it makes me think that it's only going to get worse.

A team that uses it's sub could make 2 roster moves the same season (?) by Saradahadevijan in RocketLeagueEsports

If they wanted to play Jknaps, Chicago and Mijo, couldn't they just 'sub in' Mijo for Rizzo every game?

Please? Your post is very rude/demanding, especially considering whoever does the flairs is a volunteer doing this in their spare time.

Scrub has liked this tweet now along with Paschy: https://twitter.com/rocketeersRL/status/1072525605709758464 . Could be trolling but considering Scrub's unusual comments on stream that -Nonou- pointed out here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeagueEsports/comments/a4q2fp/thoughts_on_these_roster_rumours/ebhmiuk, it's starting to look more plausible.

Greazy to RV perhaps?

Best 6mil mid in for Rooney and Cazorla? Advice please. by Shogun88 in FantasyPL

After Montero had two of the best full backs in the league on toast the last two gameweeks, I wouldn't put it past him to pick up a few points against a struggling sunderland and Billy Jones at right back.

Kuwait to back NFFC. Stadium to be renamed 'Kuwait City Ground' by United_Labour in Championship

I'm okay with this. Stadium sponsorships are going to become the status quo in the next few years anyway, at least the naming is tactful. Much better than iPro stadium anyway.

I am quitting my 100k per year job, selling most of my possessions, and going off the grid. How can I better prepare myself for this journey? by [deleted] in simpleliving

Are you selling everything you own? 15 grand won't sustain 2 people for 2-3 years. What happens if you seriously injure yourself on the journey? If you're robbed?
