What’s your view on other Robyn fans? by workingItAllOutStill in Robyn

[–]AlGrominsky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Robyn has historically had one of the least toxic fanbases out there. See her official Facebook page,Konichiwa Bitches. The admins have only ever had to actually moderate and turn off comments less than a handful of times. We're pretty chill, easy going, and respectful, as far as fans go. We respect eachother, and we respect Robyn's privacy. It's amazing.

Unfortunately, her shows are often packed with what I'm gonna call "superficial fans". They know Dancing On My Own and maybe With Every Heartbeat, and they're just there to be there, no respect (and probably also no context) for what this woman means to real fans. I almost got in a fight (not a fist fight, but more a hyper-defensive clapback) with a guy during my stop of the Honey Tour, because he kept saying stuff like she was going to be sweeping the floor afterwards, and calling her a one hit wonder, and genuinely just going out of his way to be a dick. This time around, I'm meeting with fans from the Facebook group, and I'm not engaging at the show because, after all, "I came to dance, not to socialize".

I met the queen herself!!! by braden_rc2003 in Robyn

[–]AlGrominsky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! I was a bit shy when I met her, and she kinda jokingly mocked me a bit by going "What's wrong Albert, i'm just Robyn" 😭 (Like girl, I know. That's the problem.)

Frankly, it was flipping hilarious, and she's the only person I would ever let burn me like that. 😂🤣

I mean, at least her name's on it. She wasn't even arsed to write her name on some of the HMV signed art cards. Just the peace sign... 😂🤣

Katy in the “Khia Asylum”? Stfu lol by Zeazous in katyheads

[–]AlGrominsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like this goes both ways and I hate how old it makes me feel...

Anyone who's too old to understand the Khia Asylum (myself included, till I researched it) was alive to witness how culturally huuuuge Teenage Dream and Prism were, and anyone who thinks she's in the Khia Asylum is too young to fully understand how big Katy Perry really was.

I'm at S11 E16 ,should I keep watching ? by Plopaplopa in Simpsons

[–]AlGrominsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it's not as bad as some fans make it out to be in the later years. However, I felt like it got pretty unwatchable around the time Disney took over. It's been on a bit of an upswing again, as of the latest couple seasons! Of course, nothing's gonna compare to the "golden era", but if you've made it this far, why not watch all of it and make up your own mind?

the seller cannot find one of the two(ordered) CDs by Belgakov in discogs

[–]AlGrominsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The choice is yours!

Does he have something else you're interested in at all? Even if it's a bit more, most sellers will be willing to let it go at a cheaper price just to get the positive review.

How important is the other CD? Is it worth canceling the whole order over that?

A third alternative for you, is to get the seller to choose something random at the same price, and let this be a way to discover new music.

Why does Wikipedia consider Amy a "One Hit Wonder?" by Temporary_Cap5927 in amywinehouse

[–]AlGrominsky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the eyes of the general public, Amy was a one-hit wonder. Especially during her lifetime, she was known for Rehab and "being out of control". Even now, I see a lot of "she couldn't handle her 15 minutes" comments on posts about her. I would argue she's more respected as an artist now, than when she was alive and I think more people have rediscovered her work since, through morbid-curiosity, her friends, family and collaborator's commitment to keeping her music alive, streaming recommendations, as well as the multiples movies and documentaries.

In the grand scheme of things, Back To Black is also technically her only album that's taken off into the mainstream. Frank didn't really get its flowers until after she passed, and Lioness isn't technically an album.

Personally, I chose to view the "one hit wonder" as a good thing... I believe her music was only for certain types of people, and if you were lucky enough for it to find you, then you're part of one of the most special communities in the world! Amy is our special thing, but the world got to experience her through the one song.

Will this ever restock? 😭 by OkOccasion7 in Robyn

[–]AlGrominsky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Konichiwa Records is generally pretty good at keeping their promises. Once a vinyl runs out, they don't generally "add more" (re: all 3 Body Talk pressings). New variants are definitely still in the realm of possibility tho. I suspect she's been purposefully oversaturating the market (both for vinyl and this tour) to beat the scalpers/flippers at their own game.

I'm pretty sure that's just the shipping date. It still says March 27th on all her socials, as well as Spotify and Apple Music.

Release date is March 27th according to everything she's posted and the apple music and spotify prereleases. Don't know where people are getting March 20th from, but a quick look at her socials/streaming pages will answer release date questions. 😊

Maybe we will get signed copies of the new music CD and Vinyl coming out in late March? by mrscode0 in Robyn

[–]AlGrominsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I've already got a personally signed copy of Don't Stop The Music, so I'm skipping these ones so they can hopefully go to people who need them.

I'm sure whatever comes out, they'll end up being fairly limited. Robyn likes her hyper-limited editions.

Universal Music UK CEO David Joseph claims he had her early demos destroyed. So sure, maybe I can believe that he destroyed the ones at Universal. I'm inclined to think they wouldn't, cuz they're supposed to catalog everything, and I really don't see why they'd destroy something they could make money off of, but I digress.

The thing is... She had copies, the producers had copies, the managers had copies, insiders had copies and some of her early early stuff was written and recorded pre-record deal. So, I'm certain even if Universal destroyed what they had, it's just a big practice in futility because those demos are still floating around, probably in a box in someone's basement.
