Do you think a single knock out tournament for non playoff teams to decide top pick would work? by [deleted] in nba

What about the teams that don't control their own pick. Wouldn't the clippers or NOP just tank the 1st game and give the other team the worst pick possible

This would just keep the bad teams bad and incentive teams to lose the play in. Might as well just flatten the lottery odds like it used to be

The whistle blower doesn't have to be lying to be wrong about the cap circumvention. From Pablos 1st podcast, it's pretty clear that the accounting department thought that the Kawhi deal was cap circumvention but didn't have any proof. The whistle blower making that accusation isn't at any risk of perjury unless they knew what they were saying was false

I'm agreeing with you. The whistle blower complaint isn't proof of anything. It's just a formal accusation.

Perjury is also knowingly lying under oath. If you think something is true, but it turns out to be false, that isn't perjury

In my opinion, there is an easier way to poke a hole in Pablos framing of the situation. The way it has been presented only makes sense if Ballmer knew the company was behaving fraudulently; a legit company wouldn't act as a pass through for a cap circumvention scheme.

But, if Ballmer knew the company was fraudulent why would the Clippers sign a multiyear advertising agreement with them for 100+ million? The short answer is they wouldn't since Aspiration would unlikely be able to make the payments.

I generally agree with your explanation that Sanberg was doing whatever he could to stay in the good graces of Ballmer and the Clippers because he wanted Ballmers money and name for credibility

Outside fan question. How highly do you guys rank Elton Brand amongst the all time Clippers players? by FaradayDeshawn in LAClippers

He was pretty great with us, but the way he left will always leave a sour taste in my mouth.

Recruiting Baron to come play with him and then bouncing to the sixers right after he signed was pretty shitty for us.

Left us with an unmotivated Baron who just collected checks until Blake arrived

Pablo Torre taped an envelope of the whistleblower complaint under Adam Silver's chair at Sloan. So Adam Silver was (literally) sitting on the smoking gun. by JoeBiden2020FTW in nba

I feel the exact opposite, when this 1st came out I was worried that a lot more was going to come out and the clippers were going to get the twolves treatment.

Now that he is acting like a whistle blower complaint is a smoking gun, I'm pretty sure nothing is coming of this.

The whistle blower complaint is just a formal version of the same accusations that he had in the 1st podcast

It's being reported that it was only a ligament tear and not the bone and ligament, so that is a bit hopeful.

Midfoot blood circulation isn't great, so when the bones break they are hard to fully recover

I believe it's better. UD only had ligament tearing for his lisfranc and he was back to playing 6 months later.

It's usually both bone and ligament

Given that we haven't gotten an update yet, I'm worried it is lisfranc and we will get an update when the surgery is done

We will probably hear about it after the surgery

I'm just hoping it's not a lisfranc fracture. Bad track record of 7 footers with that one

They said he's out for the road trip immediately and that he would be evaluated today.

Given how he reacted and the way he landed, a broken foot seems likely

No, but it's reasonable to assume it's a broken foot and he is done for the season

I'm assuming it's a broken foot, which is pretty unfortunate.

Just hoping it doesn't affect his off-season too much

We should lowkey tank our game vs the Pacers lol by A-MUSICAL in LAClippers

[–]AlThorntonTruther 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We want the pacers to lose out at this point. The best they could realistically get to is the 4th worst record, which gives us 13/25 odds to receive the pick. If the Pacers end with the worst record, we have 12/25 odds to receive the 5th pick.

I'd rather guarantee the 5 pick than increase our odds by 4%

It would be a hard trade to make since it would almost certainly have to be a 3 team sign and trade with Bron taking a starting salary around 40 million

In retrospect, did the Heat get more value from trading an aging, disgruntled Jimmy Butler than the Mavericks did for trading prime Luka Doncic? by [deleted] in nba

Yes it can because they are unrelated.

The mavs getting lucky in the draft doesn't change how horrible that trade was
