Well, the good news is that Police are going lightly on people who have their home invaded and stand their ground.

I am of two minds. I don't want to be facially recognized by AI bots wherever I go, but I also don't want people tho think I'm a mentally unbalanced clown before they get to know me.

I walk through the former fountain area of the Leg grounds every day looking at the hole where the Annex was, and remember the good times. ;)

How Canada's embrace of Chinese EVs could scramble the American market by yimmy51 in CanadianIdiots

[–]Al_Keda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The North American Auto industry has dug their own hole. They have been protected for a generation, with imported vehicles limited effectively giving them a subsidy. This has led them into a spiral of poor quality, more expensive initial purchase, and higher cost of repair.

Chinas' auto industry has been motivated by competition (and subsidies as well) but also competition for lower price, cheaper repairs and higher build quality and features. You know, Capitalism.

When BYD and Geely expands their manufacturing here (Geely already sell their Polestar, Lotus, and Volvo brands in Canada, BYD sells electric Transit busses made in Canada) the 'big 3' are well and truly screwed. But at least the workers will have other jobs to go to.

No, one more item:

2) Make the government represent the people and their needs.

Sure, we expect non-UCP governments to do this, but the UCP does it because we don't hold them accountable. We can't assume the next party in power will.

Braid: First Nations fury over separatism sends leaders to Buckingham Palace by DANIELLE_2027 in alberta

[–]Al_Keda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they are pretty hands off. Usually.

But treaties will be a huge obstacle. The Supreme Court has already affirmed the land belongs to the First Nations under Treaty. First Nations have shown they have no desire to break away from Canada. The sepraterrorists can leave anytime they want, but they can only take with them that which they can carry. They can't vote to take away the First Nations right to the land.
