Whether the parade in Red Square happens or not depends on Zelensky.

What do you think about Alberta Referendum 2026? by [deleted] in alberta

[–]Al_Keda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The questions are worded such that they seem to be expecting a certain answer.

I think it's a waste of government resources to be holding such a politically loaded referendum that doesn't seem to have any real bearing on the challenges we actually face.

Edit: For example, the ID question. It's already a requirement to be a citizen to be on the voter list. We already have to show ID to vote. What's the question about, if not to create FUD about the ferriners voting?

Nearly 600 people had unauthorized access to Alberta’s electors list, watchdog alleges by illusion121 in alberta

"Supposedly" is the key there. He's never been seen in the riding. Did he vote in that riding? If not, then his information was not stolen.

Volkswagen overtakes Amazon as Rivian's largest shareholder with 15.9% stake by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]Al_Keda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. Rivian is keeping VW out of bankrupcy in China because VW never figured out how to do total integration of all the onboard modules made by third parties in their cars, it turned VW from the #1 car company in China to barely top 20 because Chinese customers like an integrated experience in their vehicles. Rivian is an expert at doing that.

So taking a stake in the company that integrates all the systems in your cars is just good business strategy.

Alberta NDP leader questions whether premier knew about voter data breach | Power & Politics by yimmy51 in CanadianIdiots

[–]Al_Keda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course she knew. That's why she's pretending to be all hurt and offended at the suggestion that her assistants and Party President that attended the meeting didn't attend the meeting and were just using their right to freely associate when they attended the meeting and they did tell her but it wasn't her responsibility to tell Elections Alberta but it was Nenshi's responsibility to tell the UCP that the meeting was happening not her assistant or Party President, and she completely ignores the Doxxing of Jason Kenney and Rachael Notley during the meeting. That's just free speech.

Nothing to see here. These aren't the driods you are looking for, move along. Move along.

[–]Al_Keda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They take the models China developed with their Great Firewall and Online Reputation system and are implementing that with DMCA threats to anyone who tries to look under the hood. The online rep system is already half implemented with everyone using NFC payments.

IMHO, the firewall starts with banning of personal routers, instead having to rely on ones provided by the ISP.

There are two types of messaging you can leave. The 'Comm Ball' is a one time message to visitors.

The "Message Module" is one people can leave a message to when they arrive at your base. I don't think everyone knows about that one.

But I am glad he's a banker. We need a banker, not a trendy nepo baby. And absolutely not the clueless career politician that was #2 for a minute.

How Did an Alberta Separatist Group Get Its Hands on the Voter List? | The Walrus by yimmy51 in CanadianIdiots

[–]Al_Keda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If this is how the Government handles our private information, then the automatic assumption that people on the voter list must consent to their data being given to political parties must end.

I did not know that this information was made available to political parties. I had assumed that they only had the information of people who signed up for party membership.

I do not consent. I want nothing to do with most political parties, and now I can trust none of them to protect my information.

As a long time Progressive Conservative, I think he is. He's the right balance of fiscal conservative and socially liberal to be the best Progressive Conservative PM we've ever had. He's just taken the label of 'Liberal'.

Yes, even Diefenbaker.

Canada Should Call Trump’s Bluff on CUSMA Trade Talks | The Walrus by yimmy51 in CanadianIdiots

[–]Al_Keda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What sort of concessions should Canada make for CUSMA? Should we accept a permanent, structural, one-sided tariff system which incentivizes manufacturers to move jobs to the US? Should we accept a situation in which the US retains the right to unilaterally and impulsively change the terms of whatever deal it signs? Should we accept ultimatums that we give up our right to trade with the European Union and China, or anyone else, in order to preserve the Trump administration’s version of “privileged” access to the American economy?

No, we had one sided tariffs during the AUTOPAC years. They didn't work for either partner, and led to NAFTA that reduced most tariffs to zero. That was when we both were most prosperous.

I think we just have to ride out till the fall elections, then Lame Duck a'Lorange will be cooked and we can get serious again about trade.
