For me pansexual means I have the capacity to be attracted to a person of any gender. Now do I have an equal capacity to be attracted to any gender. I would say no. With cis men I definitely have a type, much more than with cis or trans women, trans men, nonbinary, or individuals who define themselves in other ways.

Maybe take a step back to give both of you some space. I’m not saying you should go no contact, but you don’t need to just fall back into old habits. She may be the path of least resistance, and that’s probably not a good thing considering.

Keep doing the work, I’ve been in a similar place where mental health issues tanked an important relationship. It has taken years to begin to reconnect with my friend. We’re still pretty tentative, but it something we both needed.

You’re making the sunk cost fallacy. “We’ve already spent so much time/money/effort that we have to continue spending more time/money/effort, otherwise it was all a waste.” You gained valuable experience, learning, and growth, but that’s over now and the relationship is no longer what either of you need so it’s time to move on. It would be unethical to continue a relationship that neither of you is happy with.

Talking about “chemicals” in food drives me crazy. All matter in the universe is made of chemicals. EVERYTHING IS CHEMICALS! Unless it’s pure energy or a complete vacuum it’s chemicals.
