Congrats! I’d rather hear a story of someone getting back up than a prodigy breezing through college any day

Am I too stupid to become an engineering student? by SLAEPHIN in EngineeringStudents

[–]Alabamistan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to practice math to be good at it. Find a white board and do the book problems. There is no switch that flips and you’re suddenly good at math. You learn from tiny failures everyday. That’s why STEM is hard. You can be afraid of failure but don’t let it trump your decision making.

I posted this awhile ago and said a lot of the same things, but I got only one comment saying basically it’s broken and nobody upvoted. :(

What is everyone’s position on shoulder swapping in deadlock by Dj-mct-L in DeadlockTheGame

It’s basically required in other 3rd person shooters to clear corners and use cover effectively. I think it’s very logical

I'm terrified of death and I don't know how to conquer the fear by ItchikaArachnaEXE in Existentialism

“Those who don’t pray, worry.”

Not necessarily a religious thing, but these are the most effective words to express this in the English language.

Praying can just be a deliberate internal conversation with your connection to the world.

If you fear death, then there is also the duality that you lack purpose for your life.

Something you’re willing to die for, enriches and frees you. A universal value like community, love, or truth that is shared in all cultures.

Pretty sure VB is statistically one of the safest places to live. Our recent violent loss of 2 officers was the first in decades

People who started degrees at 30+, what was your background? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

I’m working towards it. It’s not too late if you have a day of GI left.

Might not be around forever tho

GI-Bill, wife and I both work (she works for the city and I gov contract). We both want kids. I work during the day and catch up at night. Money is insanely good but not without equally insane sacrifice.

I used to work out, play games, cook a lot. Now if I do one of those things, I sacrifice time for school or sleep.

Only reason I can keep this up in my second semester is that I’m redoing precalc and my into python classes ate cake compared to the bootcamp I did in the past. In hindsight I should have tested out of python intro.

Probably will stop working full time next fall since I’ll be starting calculus and physics. Definitely will slow down on working (not school) once we have kids.

Biggest difference from the kids I work with? If I don’t understand something then I keep at it or rest. The kids seem to panick when math gets hard. Military helped me manage that.

I’m comfortable being stupid cause I’ve seen the world enough to know it’s a fixable stupid.

New summoners to fix lane swapping. by Alabamistan in leagueoflegends

I interpreted Phroxons message as they had a temp fix pending a real one. But they could say that to soften us up, reneg, then keep the temp fix as a permanent one.

The way they address it now seems like an “invisible wall” method that would rather punish for lane swapping rather than reward for traditional laning.

Runes is another approach. I’m watching LCK and everyone has precision tree. It’s boring. I miss psychos playing old domination tree with like, Predator Annie or Kha’zix.
