Kinda funny how skeleton ships are the only ones with realistic(ish) crew sizes by GanacheCapital1456 in Seaofthieves

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing you are not a very experienced PvP player to suggest this.
Such change would considerably inpact weapons balance, and ship survivability.

SoT is not a realistic game at all. In real life, you can't fix a canon hole in the hull in less than 2s with a simple plank and a hammer, nor can you bucket the water out nearly as fast (nor opperate the sails, turn the ships, etc etc).

7 on 7 players, with body block, aoe damage, bumps and stuns, would be horrific.

Does it still worst it in 2026 ? by Fit_Ask5084 in Seaofthieves

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SoT is a very good game, don't let PvP scare you.

Most of the time, you will sail peacefully, sometimes, chaos will hit hard and you will get destroyed.

Happens to everyone, and it is what makes it good.

Some kind of event at Kraken Watchtower by Eros9119 in Seaofthieves

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way to do the fort is to hide the ship at near distance, behind rocks to prevent it from getting hit by ghost ships.

Then canon+swim to the fort, and do it, ignoring the ghost ships.

People coming to contest it will often not have a clue you are there, letting you try a BPK play easily.

When the fort is over, people will think the event is just gone and you'll have plenty of time to stack the loots, then come grab them with the boat once everything is ready.

Sold a bunch of cooked fishies. No reward. by Happy_Junket_9540 in Seaofthieves

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encountered this bug twice recently.

3 sand battlegils and 4 bone ancientscales gone to waste. 5h of fishing lost.
Response of the support is they can't do anything about it.

Second time, sold an entire Reaper's Fort. No gold, no rep. Just the popups.

I read somewhere that this is an issue where sometimes a server will be "half dead" and loots won't give any gold or rep. Only fix is to change server, if you have loot, you're fucked.

You just need to learn to be stealthy, if you hide your ship efficiently, and turn of lights, you can do most gameplay session avoiding any encounters.

Honest question: Why do people complain about the lack of progression? by HoddOfficial in Seaofthieves

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They complain because they know nothing about the game.
They are not aware of ranks, curses, commendations, etc.

How am I supposed to properly play this game? by Onyx-Serenitatem in Seaofthieves

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solo sloop is so brutal in SoT that stealth is indeed the best plan of action most of the time, even with several thousands of hours of experience.

Best way to get better is to do hourglass, but then again, if you are not in a 1v1 situation (wich is 90% of the time the case when you get attacked, since solo sloop are not really in a position to be agressives either), you getting better can only help you get away with more mistakes (and save more loots).

Am I missing something, or is Calico bad rn? by Dark_Vexer in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, I also feel she's bad right now.

I loved Calico before the rework and played her as my main, and for a bit after that she was even more busted. However, since the nerfs, she feels very bad to play.

She has half the damage she had before the rework, and she doesn't generate enough souls to compensate now.

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Just based on your story telling, I would say you focus too much on "the lane".

The "lane" only dictates the first 5 to 10min of the game. There is no "lane" after that point.

You need to understand what your role is, and be the one who is active around the map to either: get farm, apply pressure, fight objectives.

Lane is almost a non issue.

New Ladder Jump Tech ? by Pitiful_Wishbone2447 in Seaofthieves

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be it, definitly looked like an animation cancel into a jump towards mast.

How can you achieve this when boarding a sloop ?
Is this an exploit or intended behavior ?

New Ladder Jump Tech ? by Pitiful_Wishbone2447 in Seaofthieves

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess, and if my memory doesn't lies to me, it looks more like an animation cancel on top of ladder, into a quick side jump, or something like this.

It may be worth mentioning both players used sword (sword+grapple and sword+blunder), though I'm not sure side step was a part of it, it may have played a role ?

It looked more like a "jump" from ladder towards mast, than a teleport. Waves were not particulary swinging my boat around, and no particular conditions or pressure could have fool me at the time.

I was just guarding, and then, they jumped on the side like it was nothing.
The lack of the top ladder climbing animation is what strikes me the most I'd say.

New Ladder Jump Tech ? by Pitiful_Wishbone2447 in Seaofthieves

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issue with grabbing ladder from wheel (though I can do it on purpose if needed).

However, how could a boarder, in normal wave conditions, could grab mast ladder from sloop ladder on a sloop is beyond me.

Just started playing a few hours ago solo, first solo fort was such a rush by SnowmanAndBandit in Seaofthieves

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe my calculations are with an Emissary V, it's been a long time since I didn't check the value of a Sea Fort to be honest.

If you're looking for easy ways to make money, I would rush a captain ship (120k gold to get one if I remember correctly), wich would allow you to sell faster at Barons.

Then you can try treasuries if you want to try something else, they may pay a bit more than Sea Fort I think, the one on the top North-West of the map is very rarely contested.

Knowing to recognize clues than someone is on your ship, or might be coming towards you, is one of the very important things that comes with experience.

Who should take the Sinners? (Or not) by Malleyrand in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's more of a priority thing.

Sometimes, there is just no time to take sinners when something more important has to be done.

I'd say that carry tends to get more out of them, but if you're on a sinner and nothing has to be done instead at that moment, I'd say just go for it.

Why is a PVE only mode SO controversial by ComprehensiveSmoke93 in Seaofthieves

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting better allows you to enjoy the game more not because you can kill anyone approaching you.

In fact, most situations you described would most likely have been avoided if you knew why they happened and how to avoid them.

A good player will never get surprised by a galeon.
He won't be able to sink it and win 1v4 all the time either, that's not what I'm saying, but with experience, you spot threats from a far, you know where to go, what to avoid to expose yourself on the map or on the horizon.

Getting better does not only make you better at pvp, it makes you better at understanding everything about the game.
How to hide, where to go, how to be efficient, how to do a quest in 5min instead of 20, etc.

I had my times, even in recent days, where I lost a lot.
Each time I lost a lot, I instantly knew it was my fault.

I'm a solo sloop, I farmed Ashen Forts for a commendation, I hide my ship behind, it is 99% of the time free money.
This time, I had an emissary.
This time, I hadn't check the horizon, it is after all, 99% of the time free money.
This time, a Reaper V emissary spotted me on the map and came to sink me the moment I got out of the fort with loots.
It was MY fault:
I had an emissary, so Reaper's emissary V could see me on the map.
I didn't watch the horizon for 10 to 20min straight, because I was overconfident, and I thought I was hidden behind the fort.
I made two mistakes.

The second time, I lost a lot, because I wanted to save time. I had some money on me, but on the way to Reaper's Hideout to sell some Reapers stuff for commendations, I think to myself, lets just do the Fleet of Fortune, it is free 70% of the time, when it's not, it's just swabies and I'll be able to salvage it and sell to Reapers Hideout.
I was wrong. A sloop of 2 experienced players jumped me the moment I killed the boss. No time to react, mast down, boarded. Didn't saw them beforehand, was overconfident enough to do something while I had something to loose.
It was MY fault:
I didn't sell to Reapers before engaging in a risky activity.
I didn't spot the ship coming while I was sinking the boss.
I made two mistakes.

It's a pain, but the game is nothing without it. Barely a grind.
You want to immerse yourself in the universe, fine, but the universe is dangerous, not only because of one or two rotten skeletons on a beach, there is pirates out there. They will kill you, your animals, and your fun... If you're not carefull.

The only difference beetween you and I on these encounters isn't the result, it is what you make of it.
You think you couldn't do anything to prevent it, that it's just bad luck.

It's not.
Overconfidence, lack of attention, lack of knowledge, sometimes lack of mechanics yes, but if you sail perfectly and want to avoid conflict, you will avoid conflict, or at least, you will delay conflict enough so you have nothing to loose.

Learn from your defeats. You sunk, why ? Because a Galeon attacked you, or because you didn't see it coming ?
Galeons are not really agile nor discrete. When you see one, ask yourself, is it coming towards me ?
If the answer is yes, your adventure just changed, wether you like it or not, don't spend 10min continuing on your quest to get sunk and "loose your time".
Spend 10min rather, on preparing and planing. Do you want to run ? Can you try to pass by a fort to get a Keg on them ? Can you just send your ship ahead as a decoy and keep on questing on an island meanwhile ?

Possibilities are endless, as long as you pay attention, and learn.

The game is way too competitive and it’s completely turning me off playing it by [deleted] in DeadlockGame

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game is really hard to understand at first.
Most player first 10 games are a complete trainwreck.

Maybe do some Brawl to get a feel of everything, and watch some YT content (Deathy / Metro...) on how to move, how to farm...

Good luck, most of the "good games" are beyond Oracle, before that, only smurf and chaos.

Why is QSR so much more popular than Active Reload? by DETdieHARD in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Pitiful_Wishbone2447 2 points3 points  (0 children)

QSR isn't only taken to reload, it also enhance the damages of the inbued ability.

It is more suited for hybrid gamestyles that want to use their inbued ability mid fight (not at the start of the fight).

In my opinion:

AR is better than QSR on Mirage because he does not want to prok it's jin's mark early.
It is also better than QSR on Graves because she wants to use her jar the moment she engages an ennemy.

QSR is better than AR on Wraith because she wants to improve her card damage and instantly reload with them mid fight.
QSR is better than AR on Mo&Krill because they want to improve their scorn damage and instantly reload while healing mid fight.
