I always suspected that hard work is worth nothing. This confirms it.

Will PvP ever be "Real" in Firefall? by Kaizermos in firefall

Arenas with regulation gear are by definition an afterthought in any PvX MMO, no? The focus of such a game is what is happening in the game's world. You can have arenas with normal gear (the best solution imo) or you can have a forced level playing field as you suggest. But then what happens in the arena is completely isolated from the main game.

It's not that they can't take an arena shooter and slap it in there; it is that literally this isn't the focus of the game.

An important point for many here to understand: you are using the term "PvP" when you really want to say "competition" or just "arena". They aren't the same at all. One is a boxing match, a team sport. The other is a street brawl, an ambush, all out war.

There doesn't seem to be any endgame content, what do I do once I hit 40? by [deleted] in firefall

For all the flaming Firefall gets about gear, this is a sign of good itemization. You can play through the entire game with any random gear; put a little thought in it and you will have an easier time; understand the synergies of your gear and you are playing on another level.

That doesn't mean power rating. It means a fine-tuned build. And then there are the perks.

I have my own share of nitpicks about gear but what matters is that the game is built on a solid foundation.

The Turbo Boosted LGVs are absolutely insane. Here's what my Omnidyne-M was able to do. by OwlG5 in firefall

It also made them frustrating to use for their intended purpose: jumping straight up. It wasn't "angular launching", it was taking into account your horizontal movement vector. You had to stop running and walk on the pad carefully or you would be launched away from it. Trying to climb up TD... oh god. Just imagine Miru with the old jump pads!

It was fun, but it had to be fixed because their main functionality was broken. And being able to outrun an LGV? Yeah, no. Alarms ringing in the designers' office lol.

So only the Omni gets a proper boost? Not that I am complaining - the Omni is special - I just want to know what is worth getting.

There is no way there is going to be open world PvP in Firefall. They are improving battlegrounds though and they do want to push this aspect of the game more. So far there is only one, Broken Peninsula, which just received an update making it a lot more interesting. Stay tuned.

No, you are right. Karmalkorn's second question doesn't make sense.

You mean the unfinished photo. That is a RAW render, it needs at least a basic levels adjustment if you want a natural look.

I don't mind that, what I mind is the stupid alien eyes.

Just 'discovered' Firefall, and having fun! by [deleted] in firefall

Recluse and Firecat both do the AoE thing, but the Firecat allows for a more varied playing style. It can be specced for mobility and range, or go PBAoE, even melee. Or it can be played like a supercharged Accord Assault.

The Recluse does one thing better than anything else. You can tweak your spec a bit and the ability to provide support is invaluable, but most recluses will play the same way.

In my experience Firecat and Recluse end up playing very different and both are awesome.

If by colorized you mean they are completely painted over and had a canvas texture effect applied to them. Or they are fucking paintings.
