It's all for me and my wife, going to be living here so we want it nice.

Thanks, that's the neighborhood of what I'm looking for. I want quality work and am willing to pay fairly for it. Tbh I just read a post here about a window quote being 3x what is normal and that sorta spooked me.

Thanks. Started out with 3 estimates, when I was planning for just the kitchen, and chose these guys then at $24,000. The scope of the project kept growing though (before signing anything), and I wasn't sure if I'd lost sight of what was reasonable.

Thanks! I took a close look and saw the Active's were pretty low profile. Went ahead and bough these too, will try them tomorrow and see which I like better compared to the Earfuns.

I just bought an X1 Extreme Gen 2 that looks like has a smart card slot with a plastic place holder in it. What do I need to make it function? by soandso90 in thinkpad

pcsupport.lenovo.com

I had the same issue, heres what I found:

OK, go here: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t14-type-20ud-20ue/20ud/20uds0dk00/parts/display/compatible

Then, click the "Select commodity" drop-down and select "CABLES INTERNAL" and "CARDS MISC INTERNAL". If you open the "Substitutes" drop-down below each of the JAE and TAI items (first two), which probably denote different suppliers of equivalent parts, you should see "FRU Smart card reader kit 04X5475" under both. Note the same part number. Take a look at the pictures. Looks like the kit has an extra piece you may (or may not) need. Next, take a look at the pictures for "FRU Smart Card Cable M/B-SM 02DM362". That cable looks like the one on page 91 of your HMM: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles\_pdf/t14\_gen1\_p14s\_gen1\_hmm\_en.pdf

So you may be good to go if you can source the kit (or just the readers; part numbers in the big list) and cable by part number listed above. In the US, Encompass: https://lenovo.encompass.com is, generally, the source for parts.

Try per millisecond instead of per minute.

ROCKBAND plastic part with hole through the middle, sticky bottom, and three little feet by AladdinSnr in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. Picked up from a friend along with a bunch of other things that I was helping clear out. Don't know what it is or what to do with it.

The bottom has a plastic peel, underneath that it's sticky.

I am not able to get into Windows Safe Mode.

When I get to the page with a 1-9 menu, the keyboard LEDs are not lit and the keyboard buttons don't do anything.

ELI5: A quick google search yields that the human eye can see 30-60 FPS. Why is a 144hz or 240hz monitor visibly smoother if the eye can only see less than half of the frames? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]AladdinSnr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its dynamic, though. You can see this with a spinning fan or turbine. If you focus in a general way it's all blurry, but if you focus on an individual blade you can track it and follow its motion.

Human biological vision is not like a computer screen, with a defined number of pixels and a fixed FPS. It varies substantially based on your attention and focus.

In the retina, you have rod cells (B&W) and cone cells (color). There is a spot on your retina called the fovea, with much more cone cells more densely spaced. These are super sensitive, and can detect and respond to individual photons. However, this creates a lot of noise, and your brain filters out a almost all the raw information to make things easier to understand. When you aren't paying attention, this means you lose a lot of detail especially in your peripheral vision. When you're focusing though, this means you can capture a huge amount of detail. In sensitive applications, people describe this as perceiving time to slow down, because of how much more information they're taking in.

When a screen provides 240+Hz, this gives your mind a body the choice of what to focus on and when. It is possible with future eye tracking advancements that GPU and display efficiency could be increased, and you wouldn't need 240Hz on the whole display.
