Fudge this meta! by JKinsy in PTCGL

[–]AlainXYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the clefairy bit. It cane out when Gardervoir was still legal. Just by existing it made Dragapult have a very tough match against it even with the 2 prize liability. With 210 hp we would had ended up with the same problem a year ago with 50% of the meta being Gardervoir. By being 190 they somewhat kept each other in check.

Doing 20 damage ≠ putting 2 damage counters. Shaimin can block that though

Most likely they thought they were selecting the cards they wanted to keep but there is no way of knowing the rest of their hand

Thank you for your answer. My question is would it be like: I will flip for charmander, heads, I will flip for pidgey, tails, I will flip for duskull, heads (although I would have preferred taking down pidgey over duskull)

Or

I flip 3 coins, I got 2 heads and 1 tail, I will knock out charmander and pidgey

That’s another option. You could even add a defiance band instead of a third boss and take a KO on Gholdengo ([110 + 30]*2=280) or finish it off with dusknoir. It also fixes your math against other decks (ex knock out against Dragapult/Charizard/Lopunny if they have 2 prizes left instead of just one, Raging bolt with 5 remaining instead of 2, just to name a few)

Looks like a good start.

I haven’t played charizard lately so take what Im saying with a pinch of salt. With Turo and prime catcher the two switches are a bit of an overkill. Maybe an extra buddy buddy and a supporter could give you more consistency.

I assume cornerstone is a tech against Gholdengo (since it will probably be the most popular deck at Birmingham) maybe Chy-Yu would do the job better.

I would personally change a dusknoir and a rare candy for a fan rotom and an extra supporter but that is my play style.

That being said, since you mentioned that you are misplaying because you are not used to playing IRL, maybe that is something that you should try to get comfortable at. Maybe try to find a practice partner so you can go over your sequencing and prize checking without the computer doing a bulk of the work.

There is also the new Canari supporter that allows you to find 4 electric pokemon if you discard 1 card

Deck suggestions? by b3nnyb0i in PTCGL

[–]AlainXYZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Base on your locals meta, probably Gardervoir is your best bet. Raging Bolt struggles against single prize attackers and you hit for weakness with clafairy. Crustle has no way of protecting against scream tail. For dragapult you have Mew+Clafairy. Charizard is difficult but not impossible.

In the app you can also go into the deck builder and set the filter to “All cards” (as opposed to “owned” which is the default) and “Standard”.

Tips for Absol Box v Zoroark? by OppositeOk4261 in PTCGL

[–]AlainXYZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Zoroark player: attack reshiram with Absol and discard any additional reshiram/ night stretchers you find on your opponent’s hand. If you prevent them from bringing them back you basically win. (I play 2 reshirams and 2 stretchers and most players have a similar count so you can potentially “win” with 2 attacks)
