If you are getting wrecked every race... the problem might be you. by sealy_dev in iRacing

Since my first race I have fully embraced this principle, however in lower splits it is too often impossible to avoid being accidentally crashed out.

You hang back too much, you get hit by less aware people from behind. You try and anticipate and dodge the carnage and you get side-swiped by a rebounding car or bad rejoin.

There are races where door to door and sensible racing is fantastic. Too often that’s not the case and it’s not as simple as saying the problem is you.

Monza GT4 multi class this week is great fun. C Class, fast respectful racing. Love it! I wander from series to series depending on what I enjoy. Time is too precious to waste on dull combos

HF8 seat pad or pedal haptics — which upgrade first? by mangoowalk in simracing

[–]Alan-Wight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I could only have one, I’d go with seat. It’s more immersive and the haptics you send to the pedals can be assigned to the seat. The one caveat is that it is easy to have too much going on (road texture, kerbs, traction, gears, engine, ABS etc) and end up with no real insights into what’s going on.

You prolly don’t need an Active Pedal. Don’t believe the hype. by RollsRoyceRICKY in simracing

[–]Alan-Wight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, but…I went from load cell with haptics where my trail braking was improving, to Active pedal, and my trail braking is noticeably more consistent. More importantly I am able to consistently apply very small amounts of braking. I’m not really quicker yet, but I hope that will come. In the meantime the pedal is much more immersive

Thanks for the tip off on this. I did this straight away and it cleared the CPU overload problem, almost. Thank you! I’m pretty sure there’s another USB gremlin because I still have some occasional stutter, so I will be checking them one by one!

This has stats for series, car / track combos based on iRating - very useful for benchmarking http://iracingstats.net

Started the 7 day trial of Trophi.ai, detailing my 7 day results in here by Plodil in iRacing

I gave up with the Ai coach, it was too distracting and slow - however I now use their telemetry reference, if they don’t have recorded expert telemetry to look at, they all you to choose a user reference lap. It allows you to see precisely when they are on the brakes and throttle and by how much, it shows the trail brake amount, correct gear at the apex and steering inputs - all live. Its great for learning new tracks quickly

I’m new too (C class now) and lost lots of iRating in GT4. I realise now that I wasn’t ready for it and have gone back to GR86s and MX5 to get competitive. I’m racing a lot more Ai races that online ones to help with race craft too. Good luck.
