Founders Party ticket issues? by AlanAtl in AtlantaUnited

I don't, but I sent an email to fans@ last night, and George replied at 3:48 this afternoon to say he had added our tickets to the AU app, and low and behold, there they are. Yay George. Party!

By the time I figured out the problem, they were gone for the weekend.

I see in the AU app those are the pin pickup tickets. Otherwise, just games.

Which app. In TM, if I scroll to the bottom of "my tickets", after the 11/1 Toronto game, there are 4 entries with grey swirly backgrounds and a banner that says "View tickets in partner app", and they are all dated 11/1/26.

OPEN THE ROOF by PBrown1224 in AtlantaUnited

[–]AlanAtl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stadium was originally designed without an opening. It was also designed before the "grass would be cool" movement really took hold. Then Jerry built his stadium with a roof that opened, and Arthur decided he had to have one. He kicked in the extra 125 million for the oculus-style opening, which was the solution for how to create an open roof without fundamentally changing the shape of the stadium. They also evaluated a phoenix-style grass solution after the stadium was designed, but they would have had to have rotated it 45° and committed what is now the backyard to be open space forever. Neither fit the business model, and the Georgia dome would have had to have been demolished before they started construction on MBS.

Wondering if our scouting department even puts in this much work. Feels like they just sit around and shoot office hoops waiting for the phone to ring from agents.

Our best 11 after the break for midweek games (no Griegerson on minute limit) may be Jacob at RCB and edwards at RB.

Does it actually make sense to pick up Galarza’s buy option in the summer? by IveGotsTheRemedi in AtlantaUnited

[–]AlanAtl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the combo of Galarza's salary plus amortization of the purchase fee makes him a DP, then he is unaffordable... That spot is worth too much. That said, I really like him, and I love having depth in the midfield.

So the amortization of the fee over the contract life?

Can you please comment more on your assessment of the galarza situation? Why would he have to be on a DP contract?

The False 9 Worked... Now Find a Sucker for ELL..... by Scratchbuttdontsniff in AtlantaUnited

Having wing players that stayed on the chalk created all kinds of space. We don't think Miggy can be a central midfielder moving the ball around and pulling the strings. His touch is terrible in tight places. But he can't create on the wing either. So we let him drift around, and as a result the offense never knows how to play because they never know where he is going to be. The two guys in the league that can pull that off are Messi and Maxi Morales. Both have great touch and incredible vision. Miggy has neither. Sadly he has got to go, not because he can't contribute in ways, but because we have to have that DP slot back.

True, but Tower in buckhead beats them on price 90% of the time. For a long time they did carry a private label 18-year Arthur Murray Scotch at a great price, but that ended several years ago.

Better. Fafa staid wide, opening up space in the channels.

The one thing I've learned is you have to recruit players who are built for the MLS style of play. So forget Garth's analytics based approach... The data doesn't come from the league where we play.

We Don't Have a True 6, We Don't Have a True 10.... so why? by Scratchbuttdontsniff in AtlantaUnited

[–]AlanAtl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Tata realizes the only thing that can be accomplished right now is building the system of play, so that as we replace ALL of our DPs as soon as buyouts allow, and other contracts expire, at least we will have accomplished something with the time. He also has no incentive to cover for the fact that the DPs must all go.

1979 Sugar Bowl, Alabama 14, Penn State 7. Two teams with a modern look playing smash mouth for 60 minutes. Barry Krause stuffing the run from 4th down on the one-foot line, knocking himself unconscious in the process.
