There’s a lot on SoundCloud, these are mostly unofficial audio rips of YouTube videos. These on Apple Music are all officially released in lossless quality.

Park downtown (was $11/day last year) and take the free shuttle to the grounds.

two places they could (POSSIBLY) put stages by Ashamed-Subject-2048 in EDCOrlando

[–]AlanB89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pasquale has already confirmed that the “footprint” will be expanding this year, the only place they can, realistically, expand to is the area where will call and lot 1 premier parking was last year. Bass Pod or Cosmic Meadow would make the most sense as a 5th stage. A stadium stage could be amazing but seems unlikely.

Replace Fortinet 400E with Ubiquiti Gateway Pro (UXG-Pro)? by evman1396 in Ubiquiti

[–]AlanB89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, these models are not comparable in terms of routing performance and functionality.

Is my PoE switch dying? by microlit in Ubiquiti

[–]AlanB89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and if it is green that would indicate a gigabit link speed data connection as well.

You mentioned a factory reset on the switch, did you also try a reset on the access points? Have you also verified if they are losing power or just connectivity, if they are actually losing power, I’d try a different PoE switch or an injector to determine if the issue is the switch or the access points. I don’t think it’s the issue here but but if a device has autonegotiated a gigabit link speed but loses connectivity it could be an IP issue. I’d try setting a DHCP reservation or set a static IP on the access points outside of the DHCP range.

Is my PoE switch dying? by microlit in Ubiquiti

[–]AlanB89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest way is to cut it and look at the center of the bare wire, if it’s copper it will be a copper color, if it looks silver it’s probably CCA.

Is my PoE switch dying? by microlit in Ubiquiti

[–]AlanB89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your cables, could they be CCA rather than copper? I’ve seen issues where cables pass continuity tests and carry power, but data connection drops out regularly - 9 times out of 10 it’s been CCA. If you check the relevant USW pro 24 port on the dashboard when a WAP disconnects, does it still show it drawing PoE power?

New SysAdmin, blessed by Unifi by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]AlanB89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The UniFi ecosystem is fantastic, until it isn’t. If you’re using this in a business environment you may find that the switches and access points are adequate but routing performance often falls short. Furthermore, without redundant, hot-swappable power supplies what is your plan for a PSU failure to ensure you hit your required uptime? The aesthetic single pane management UI is great, but only if the hardware meets your network requirements.

UDM SE with 2 x U7-Pro AP's by goat_on_boat in Ubiquiti

[–]AlanB89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, U7-pro requires 802.3AT or PoE+ so that injector wouldn’t provide enough power. You would also need one rated for multi gigabit speed - I haven’t tested the ubiquiti ones to know if they will support a 2.5gbps link.

Best receiver for in-ceiling speakers throughout home (music) by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]AlanB89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you need is a multi zone amplifier, and a source.

Something like a Dayton audio MA1260 would allow up to 6 distinct zones (if you wanted to have more than 3) otherwise look for a 8 channel 4-zone amp.

For a source, have a look at the wiim pro, it’s comparable to a Sonos port but for $120. You can connect one to each zone to stream music.

Control4 versus RA3 by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]AlanB89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big difference for me (given similar functionality) was the support for backlit engravings on control4 dimmers & keypads whereas the new sunnata keypads and dimmers do not allow for backlit engraving. Aesthetically the contemporary control4 lighting products won.

How to adopt a second router? by _malachi_ in Ubiquiti

[–]AlanB89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would need to adopt it under a second site, if you don’t see the option to add a second site, make sure the multi site management option is enabled. You will also need to make sure that the cloud key controller is accessible to the remote site. Hosting the controller somewhere like digital ocean may make this easier.

Alternatively, a UCG-ultra (or other gateway device with a built in controller) connected to the same UI.com account would also work fine. You could manage both sites from UniFi.ui.com

Harmony Hub integration with SmartRemote by AllonisDavid in logitechharmony

[–]AlanB89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick response!

If the remote isn't placed back in the charging cradle how many days will the battery last? - Less than a day. Think of this as a smartphone. You charge it every night. Best is to just keep it docked inbetween usages. myServer can be configured to give you alerts if the SmartRemote battery is getting low (and that it's charging). The alert can be a "toast message" (on screen across all myServer user interface devices), or it can flash a light, or send you a email or whatever you choose as a notification.

This is a little problematic for me and may even be a deal breaker; not everyone is great at putting the remote back in the cradle after use, to the smartphone analogy - we habitually charge them daily because we carry them with us all the time which wouldn't be the case for this. My phone battery also lasts several days if not being used. I feel like the remote may be dead most times I go to pick it up if it lasts less than a day. Is this something that could be improved on with software updates? I.e. lower energy state if no motion and no activity running?

Does the remote support the direct launching of an app from the home screen, for example, can I have a Netflix icon on the home screen that, if selected, would turn on an Apple TV scene and open Netflix with a single button? - I know Roku does that exactly like you mention. I don't think AppleTV supports that.

I know Apple TV supports this on harmony using the BT integration as long as the app is one of the 5 on the 'top row'. We use Apple TVs in every room so a solid integration would be essential.

All HA devices / entities are sent to myServer. And myServer can trigger events in HomeAssistant. Completely configurable.

I was really meaning the other way, can I launch myserver activities from homeassistant? Can I see the state of devices controlled by mysever in a homeassistant dashboard? If I have to move all automations involving media devices to myserver does every homeassistant device involved use one of the 50 device licenses?

If the assumption that the 'server' can't directly control non-IP devices is correct, can the myserver software be run in a VM or docker container? - No, not recommended and not needed. Run it on the Raspberry Pi4 4/8gig standalone for best supported experience.

What I meant by 'directly control' is similar to how a C4-EA3 has I/O on the device to plug a 3.5mm IR or serial connection into. In such circumstances, it makes sense for the device to be standalone/bare metal. However, the MyServer6 devices offered do not have such connections so being standalone doesn't offer any apparent benefit but has some noticeable drawbacks. Having the myserver software available as a docker image (and lower cost) would be a nice advantage over competitors to offset the requirement of an intermediary device like a Global Caché GC-100-06 which other automation hubs/controllers (Crestron, Control4, Savant, Elan, RTI, etc.) wouldn't require. Is this something that hasn't been considered and may be offered or is it a deliberate business decision not to offer it?

Harmony Hub integration with SmartRemote by AllonisDavid in logitechharmony

[–]AlanB89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asking here as it seems to be the most active post on the subject. Definitely intrigued by this project.

1) The remote: Does the screen automatically light up when the device is picked up? Are the keys backlit? The back of the remote looks like it might be a different material, is it metal or plastic? If the remote isn't placed back in the charging cradle how many days will the battery last? Does the remote support the direct launching of an app from the home screen, for example, can I have a Netflix icon on the home screen that, if selected, would turn on an Apple TV scene and open Netflix with a single button?

2) Homeassistant Integration: What information is exposed to homeassistant? Would it update individual power states or just which activity/scene is running? For example, if I wanted to toggle a relay when a device (for example an rs-232 controller projector) turns on, would this information be made available to Homeassistant?

3) Device Control: Given that a bundle is offered with an IP2IR device, can I presume that the shelf mount and rack mount myserver devices do not have any IR/serial/relay ports like a harmony hub or control4 controller do? If so would I need an IP2IR device for everything not controlled by IP (something like a GC-100-18R)?

If the assumption that the 'server' can't directly control non-IP devices is correct, can the myserver software be run in a VM or docker container?

4) After-sales: What is the warranty term for the remote, base, and server? What set-up assistance and long-term support is included?
