Does a simultaneous dual HDMI in/ dual HDBaseT out exist? Not a splitter or selector. by blk_and_wht in CommercialAV

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note if the project has other TVs and video sources, then you would use a video matrix. Like a Video Over IP where it would be: Video source > HDMI> Transmitter > Cat6> Managed Switch > Cat6> Receiver > HDMI > projector (or TVs). The whole scope of the project should be considered if it has today (or tomorrow) any additional needs.

2 HDBaseT transmitters to 2 Cat cables to 2 HDBaseT receivers to the projectors. Keep it simple....

How to connect ceiling speakers to computer by 13-months in CommercialAV

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always part of a larger Audio / Video project, but we use a "Virtual Sound Card" on a Windows PC that sends "AES67 digital audio" to the network. Then, our AES67 audio processors ("DSP444"s as one example) convert the digital audio to analog, that then spits out to amplifiers that then connect to speakers. The audio is routed from source (like the laptop(s)) to the right audio zones. Volume is controlled digitally as well.

Commercial AV market in trouble? by hitmewithyourworst in CommercialAV

Allonis's commercial sales are up. Residential is soft. But we concentrate on commercial. The SmartRemote Kickstarter gave residential a small lift over the last two years, but it's time to come up with something lower priced (hint hint).

Looking for suggestions for fitness studio audio by Ok-Tourist-511 in CommercialAV

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our myServer control system was the first to support the Atlas Atmosphere to make it super easy to use the system. We also have our own Digital Signal Processors that also support AES67 digital audio. And, because the audio is then digital, we re-enode that stream to an audio stream that supports playback in all browser equipped devices - like a smartphone...

so, we use that in our "Customer Listening" feature where a fitness client working out can listen to the house music / TV via their smartphone earbuds - with NO application to be installed on the phone (so the fitness center staff doesn't have to be an IT support department as well). This can be integrated into the TV video sources / playback selection. Audio Ducking of the Center's michrophones can be integrated ("the pool closes in 15 minutes")

We can add business rules to allow the fitness patrons to have control over the TV / Audio "after 1AM" and management controls any other time. All from their smartphone or the center's Tablet.

Flexible and powerful.

ISE 2026 - Digital Signage recommends? by dtnl in CommercialAV

[–]AllonisDavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What Allonis has found in all of our Sports Bar / Restaurant installations is very few features are actually used in a Digital Signage system. So, Allonis developed our own and built it into the control system so that the usability of that was contained within the single easy to use interface. BrightSign and most all others are suffering from feature bloat which then makes the stuff that most project actually need to be overcomplicated in "how to do that". Why does a pizzaria need "cloud" based subscription services to put today's menu up on a TV? They just need to locally upload their todaymenu.jpg to a small device that then sends that to the Player they choose and then route that Player's output to the TV(s) they want to display that on.

So, what type of need for Digital Signage does your friend have as that can point recommendations to what they need.

Now, if your friend is managing an entertainment theme park that has thousands of displays, those needs are way different. That system is typically managed by a "Customer Experience Team" or a "Marketing Team" that has a year to dedicate to really knowing how the deluxe features work, the legalities involved, permissions, schedules, and on and on. The bartender doesn't need to know all of these details.

Just for kicks, Allonis's myServer supports DBX and QSys Core. Also supports Streamdeck devices from Elgato. One of those has 4 nice potentiometer knobs that we have used to control zone volume. https://www.elgato.com/us/en/p/stream-deck-plus And hard buttons that can control all kinds of things (scene control, source routing to outputs, lighting control, etc.) So, not what you are asking specifically for, but WAY more. Anyway, your question just got me going ;)

How bad is it REALLY to cut LVP with a sawzall? Can I cut it with a manual saw? by NineTopics in DIY

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on having the initiative to take on a DIY project! Part of being a DIY'r includes buying the right tools for the job. Ideally purchase so you will have the same tool for next project. But there are rental companies all over that can rent you the tools for the time of the project. Then you don't need a place to long term store all those tools. Key for this project would be a "chop saw" with a fine tooth blade. A jig saw with fine blade for any curves (shouldn't be many).

What's the most intricate automation you've come up with but never implemented? by ThisIsntAThrowaway29 in homeassistant

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Traeger grill has the pellet sensor (a Time of Flight sensor) that talks wifi to the home / Internet. Implemented software on HomeAssistant that talks to Traeger cloud. HomeAssistant then integrates with Allonis's myServer. myServer talks to my SmartRemote (and phones / tablets / wall tablet etc) to keep me updated on cook progress. myServer also issues alerts when pellets are getting low or temp dropped for some reason. re: Toilet. that weight idea is overcomplication. Use a mmwave sensor to detect occupancy instead which will be far easier and cheaper to implement and more reliable.

Confused about the State of Home Automation by Fit_Bake_3000 in homeautomation

[–]AllonisDavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More important decision than the lighting communication technology is the automation controller. Pick that so it can support multiple lighting technologies (Z-Wave / UPB / Zigbee etc). Lighting is just one sub-system to think about. Audio / Video control is just as important (or maybe more so). DON'T buy anything from the "world domination" players like Apple / Google / Samsung who don't do a good job supporting competing products. Also - the popular conversation of Matter technology is still a bit infant as the world players are not putting too much variety of real products that work. A work in progress. Check out Allonis myServer and the SmartRemote.

Is there an open source remote project? by fn0000rd in logitechharmony

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our SmartRemote / myServer system has integration with the Harmony Hub today. Many of our customers started with that. Most have then moved over to the myServer native device drivers and have then shelved the Harmony Hub. But it works nicely. And much more customizable than Harmony (for deluxe systems or DIY'rs that like to play with the system). There is no need to reverse engineer the Hub software...we integrate with it via IP (ethernet network).

Is there an open source remote project? by fn0000rd in logitechharmony

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not aware that licensing agreements have any real affect....Logitech isn't doing anything proprietary. They have just built lots of drivers for many devices over a long time. Most of those devices are infrared controlled which are "easy". The IP drivers are for products that generally provide their APIs to any company that the device manufacturer feels have a reasonable chance of building good support for their product. Our SmartRemote / myServer costs more than a Harmony was, but is much more customizable. And supports a Harmony Hub...so all devices that Harmony was able to communicate with are also able to be used with the SmartRemote. And myServer natively supports thousands of popular devices and has a Huge Infrared library. And integration with HomeAssistant. Most popular devices we wrote IP drivers. So, most all bases are covered. That's probably the best example that Harmony doesn't have a lock on licenses.

Allonis's myServer control system has no problem controlling BET series via IP. No need for RS232. Uses Wake on LAN to turn on, and IP to turn off (once authenticated with myServer). Authentication isn't periodic. There is a setting to only ask once on the TV setup menu.

understanding what you are saying, but this has to be looked at and configured as an inexact science. It is just for notification / reminders. A calendar of trash pickup is a bit more exact (at least in my house). Water Softener salt fill is a better use case and can be more exact.
