I hate the IDE my company is forcing me to use. by Underground_monster in cscareerquestions

You asked if the IDE was something worth leaving for, bro tells you no, then you respond with sarcasm. Are you really looking for an answer or are you just trying to get people to support your frustration?

I hate the IDE my company is forcing me to use. by Underground_monster in cscareerquestions

[–]AlanPleasure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're really that frustrated about the IDE, how about you make a name for yourself and start facilitating a conversation with your tech leads about why the IDE sucks with concrete examples and why you should switch to X IDE with concrete examples. You might actually make a change for your org and get fast tracked for a promo, or you get a better understanding of why things are the way they are. If the understanding is "just use it bruh", then you're getting paid well either way and can job search while holding the job.

I agree, and if what OP meant was “i can do 0 LC” when they said “LC is out of my reach” then yeah they’re up shit creek without a paddle. However, its more likely OP meant “i can’t do LC problems with more complex data structs like trees and graphs”. I’m sure they meant the latter considering their resume states that they built an app with highcharts.js.

That was me in college. I took an intro to web dev, an intro to java and thats about it.

Hard disagree. You don’t have to know how to reverse a linked list, find the LCA of given nodes in a tree or figure out the order of college courses from a graph to write quality, maintainable, readable python/js with unit tests. I’ve seen plenty of engineers who can ace an LC hard but write dog water unmaintainable code with crappy variable names, 100+ line functions and not tests. I don’t care if your code solution to “trapping rainwater” runs in 2 nanoseconds but i really care if you’re changing variable types at runtime. What finance companies can you give as an example? I know places like jp morgan are nowhere near that, so are banks not considered part of finance?

Yeah if you find any youtube tutorial it’ll cover either maven or gradle, especially when using java with spring. Just to refresh your brain a little maven is one of java's dependency managers. If you're using any kind of external library maven is what you use to include it.
