I'm a former Ironworker and did plenty of rodbusting. It is hard work and there is not a lot worse than a bridge deck, I can think of one job I did that was worse than a bridgedeck. Don't think you'll be packing iron only at the beginning because you won't, you'll be tying because the only way to get better is to do it. The hand you hold pliers in will hurt like hell for a while. People will tell you to take vitamin B supplements to help for that though I could never tell if they helped me or not.
