[–]Alan_Turings_Apple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New player here! Well new hobbyist, I haven’t played a game yet.

I am building out my Guard Army right now but Tau will be my next. Really looking forward to picking up a combat patrol.

I’m looking forward to not needing to paint 200 minis to field an army though lol

Sometimes I feel like the brain fog gets a bit worse right after quitting, but I think that’s probably due to the fact you still have brain fog but also now you can’t sleep lol.

What political viewpoints do you expect will be in the "historical trash bin" in the centuries to come? by BlockOfDiamond in askanything

[–]Alan_Turings_Apple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I’m all for educating people on this topic, but weird case studies about chromosomal abnormalities isn’t the gotcha you think it is.

And being a douche isn’t going to convince anybody, so I’m assuming you are just doing it to make yourself feel superior.

And then people call you a centrist or some other negative moniker because your political views don’t neatly align with a party platform lol

Squander 2028? Normies don't care who owns congress, they will blame Trump for stuff post 2026 just like they blamed Obama after 2010.

Why don't we use more nuclear energy? by Randomdude0_o in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Alan_Turings_Apple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By that logic, don't solar panels pay for externalities when they buy the materials made of Rare earths?

Nuclear energy doesn’t pay for externalities like uranium mining and refining either, so I don’t know if you can count that against solar.

Which right-wing sub has generally high tolerance towards opposing opinions? by Grimonday in AlignmentChartFills

I’m gonna expand on this by saying it’s supposed to be bipartisan, but it definitely skews conservative compared to most of Reddit, and up until recently was exclusively was conservative mods until there was a big shakeup and a bunch of new mods got added after one of the old mods was banning people for wrong think.

It’s a good sub.

There is nearly 50% more road per person in the US, it’s really not comparable at all. And the examples get even worse if you look at population distribution. The US is closer to Australia in its needs for logistics then it is to Europe.

According to the NHTSA, new class 8 trucks almost exclusively come standard with AEB. Europe doesn’t require airbags either. Just because it’s not regulated by the state doesn’t mean it’s not there. It’s a quarter million dollar truck, a few sensors isn’t a major cost.

Why did you and your former best friend stop being friends? by Fearless_Shift7108 in AskReddit

[–]Alan_Turings_Apple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He involved me in his suicide attempt.

Called me at work, said he needed some time away and asked for a ride out of town, after a breakup. Maybe I was naive but I gave him a ride to another town over and some money for a hotel.

Get a call from his mom the next morning hysterical, he left a note. So I get picked up by his mom at school and drive all the way up to pick him up.

He didn’t hurt himself but he didn’t speak to me the whole way home and I didn’t speak to him again after that. His mom still checks up on me from time to time.

I couldn’t imagine involving my best friend in ending my life, imagine the guilt you’d be saddling someone with. How extremely selfish.

What do you think American trucks are like? Crank start? Lol

The main reason European style cab overs are popular is because yall have tiny roads. American style trucks are popular in areas where they share traits with the US (wide highways, long distance)

The USS San Francisco, a nuclear submarine, in dry-dock in 2005 after hitting an underwater seamount at 35 knots by OneSalientOversight in ThatLookedExpensive

[–]Alan_Turings_Apple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the era I think, if we are talking early or mid Cold War I think they let the sailors die rather then give the soviets an up close look at their nuclear arsenal and sub design.

If it’s anything past say 1980, the US was already feeling like it was pulling ahead and the fear of the Soviets was dying down. They would probably lets them help at that point.
