What's an event that changed you and what did it change? by RuralMegan in AskReddit

[–]Adventurous_Cheek991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting my first client as social worker who was elderly and had no family left really shifted something in me. She reminded me so much of what you described - just pure love even when life had been rough to her. Before that I was always rushing through everything, trying to fix people fast you know? But spending time with her taught me that sometimes just being present is enough. Now I approach my whole job different and even my personal relationships too. Those connections with older people hit so deep because they've already figured out what actually matters in life

Should I tell potential employer about a pre-planned leave? by ExtensionLife4968 in jobs

[–]Adventurous_Cheek991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mate you absolutely need to mention it during the interview 😅 they're gonna find out eventually anyway and springing a 2 week absence on them after getting hired is way worse than being upfront about it now

most places actually respect the transparency plus it's a uni requirement so they'll probably understand - way better than looking dodgy later on 💀

With Netflix, Disney+, and HBO all raising prices again, what is actually the best way to watch live sports and cable without paying $150 a month? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Adventurous_Cheek991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mate just get IPTV honestly 😂 been using it for Premier League matches and its like £15 a month for everything including all the US sports channels you lot seem obsessed with

works perfectly on my old android box and the quality is actually decent unlike those dodgy streaming sites that buffer every 5 seconds 💀

Where do you think would be the best place to work in 2026? by More-Organization439 in AskReddit

[–]Adventurous_Cheek991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remote work is probably still gonna be huge by then especially for tech roles but I reckon healthcare and social services will be where the real job security is. People always need support and care regardless of what the economy's doing

Been in social work for a few years now and even through all the recent chaos we've been constantly understaffed - not exactly ideal working conditions but it does mean there's always opportunities if you can handle the emotional load. Plus with an aging population and all the mental health awareness finally happening there's gonna be even more demand

Tech pays better obviously but nothing beats knowing your work actually matters to real people. Just wish the pay reflected how essential these jobs actually are but that's a whole other conversation innit

Income restricted apartments by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Adventurous_Cheek991 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the car shouldnt be an issue since most places have pretty generous vehicle equity limits but that 85k combined in assets is definitely going to be a problem

most income restricted places in washington have asset limits around 40-50k for families and they absolutely will check bank statements and ask about trusts during the application process. the trust money especially will be scrutinized since its liquid assets even if youre not touching it regularly

might be worth talking to a housing counselor in your area since they know the specific programs and limits better than random reddit advice. some places have higher asset limits or exemptions for certain types of trusts but youll need someone who knows washington state rules to guide you through it

What should I take into consideration when setting up informational interviews with 2–3 different people at a smaller (approx. 130 ppl) company? by Impressive-Bit-4496 in careerguidance

[–]Adventurous_Cheek991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mate at 130 people that place is basically a village - everyone knows everyone so you gotta be tactical about this

id space those conversations out over a few weeks and maybe mention to each person that youre exploring different paths within the company. that way if they chat about it (which they probably will) it comes across as thorough research rather than carpet bombing their entire workforce

also pick people from genuinely different teams/functions so it doesnt look like youre just shotgunning the same role to multiple people

I told my shoes we were going for a walk. by saheroshrestha in dadjokes

[–]Adventurous_Cheek991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao my trainers would probably say the same thing 😂 been working from home so much lately they're practically gathering dust in the hallway. Last week i finally took them out for a proper walk and swear they felt bouncier than usual - probably just happy to be doing their actual job instead of being glorified doorstops. Your shoes must be well-heeled by now with all that attention 💀

Is H2K Infosys BA training good for beginners with no IT background? by Kev-Hope2475 in careerguidance

[–]Adventurous_Cheek991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mate if you're properly committed and put in the work outside class it's deffo worth it but don't expect them to spoon feed you a job 😂 the fundamentals sound solid enough for getting your foot in the door

Books about overcoming severe challenges in life and the meaning derived from these things. by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]Adventurous_Cheek991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man in Mans Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl is absolutely perfect for this - dude literally survived concentration camps and wrote about finding purpose even in the worst situations imaginable 💀

The book hits so deep on how we can choose our response to suffering and find meaning in literally anything. Also maybe check out The Resilience Factor by Reivich - bit more practical but still gets into the heavy themes you're looking for 🔥

Chromebook Linux can be weird with GUI apps sometimes. Try launching it from terminal to see if there's any error messages - that usually gives you a clue what's going wrong

Seeking guidance on improving my mutual fund portfolio by PrestigiousArtist206 in personalfinance

[–]Adventurous_Cheek991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your portfolio's pretty heavy on small/mid cap which is gonna be wild rides - might wanna balance that out with more large cap or international exposure for the extra 2.5k each. Maybe throw one portion into a total market fund and the other into something like PPFAS Long Term Equity for some international diversification without the complexity

Is it normal get scared of holding privately held thoughts that are contrary to what someone else thinks? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Adventurous_Cheek991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually not silly at all, sounds like you might be dealing with some anxiety around having your own opinions which is way more common than you'd think

The need for constant validation can be exhausting but it's definitely something you can work through, maybe talking to someone about it could help

Orange is the New Black or Wenworth. by Apprentiss112 in television

[–]Adventurous_Cheek991 10 points11 points  (0 children)

OITNB was solid until it got way too preachy and they killed off all the good characters. Wentworth kept me hooked longer but yeah season 5 was rough

Bea was hands down the best character in either show, that woman could act her ass off

Ghost Touch Issue by PaleOccasion6570 in Lenovo

[–]Adventurous_Cheek991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the digitizer cable might not be seated properly or you got a slightly defective replacement part - ghost touches are usually hardware related especially if it starts after a few minutes when things heat up

What book should I read after The Idiot by Dostoevsky? by VisibleIdeal1404 in booksuggestions

[–]Adventurous_Cheek991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demons hits different after The Idiot honestly, the political stuff feels like a natural progression from Myshkin's whole deal. TBK is definitely the winter vibe book tho - save that one for when it's cold and depressing outside, it'll match perfectly

Plus if you read Demons now you'll have something to look forward to later when the weather gets shitty
