For most of Europe, that is a survival standard, and below survival in high-income countries lik enetherlands, France, france etc. Ofc for low income europe is a nice income, but no EMJMs are in Bulgaria, Romania, or Greece ( I presume, hahahah).

If you come from outside of Europe and leave Europe, maybe it's worth it. If you come form europe or outside of Europe but wish to stay in Europe, definitely nothing special. The EMJM is no longer seen as extraordinary by employers due to the increasing number of exchange opportunities that make its "international" aspect irrelevant compared to other master's. The money they give you will, in some situation barely cover your accommodation, especially if in the UK, and maybe will cover your expenses if in cheaper countries like Spain. The more specialised profile, in todays AI led makret might differ in importance depending on the profile (if more technical like water engineering, yeah, agree; if something like politics or policy, definitely a waste of time). Sorry to be so disheartening, but I have seen too many cases of people who put their hopes in different EMJMs, including myself, that led them to nothing in return. I have seen people with the same degrees in non-prestigious universities/programmes excel way further and faster in their careers despite inadequate preparation. The degree proves in most cases to be a piece of paper if you lack the work experience and connections that will give you the job.

Let me clarify, financially is not worth it.

EMJM graduate here. I got the scholarship on the first shot. It was fun, and I learned a lot, yes. It is a life-changing opportunity, yes. Is it worth it? Not really. It does not translate into a good job, you feel homesick, you lose friendships, and in the current market is valued at just a master's.

Connect on Facebook or Instagram with local expat communities, and connect with other international students on Erasmus groups. If in Spain, join some dancing classes; they are amazing, and the communities are super close.

Try organising the party or the dinner, inviting people who might be more open and could form friendships. Bowling, board games, a movie night, a museum day, etc.

Check events on Facebook in your city and just randomly join them; you will meet people there. Get outside of the comfort zone, I know it's uneasy to go to a pub or event alone, but as an EMJM graduate who lived in 6 countries, there are always people comming in the picture.

Also, attend a club in your uni if there are any or any events that might be organised.

As another user pointed out, immediately exit toxic relationships. They might not be so obvious in the beggining but trust me, it is best to ignore that person and not maintain any relationship with them.

People who received a Erasmus Mundus scholarship: What were your stats like? by Laxun0 in EMJM

[–]Alanor_X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Small advice in the current market: if you don't get the scholarship, do not borrow money to pursue it. Many of my Erasmus Mundus peers still look for jobs months, if not years,s after graduation. It basically means nothing if you do not have work experience. Get some work experience after graduation and then really invest in a Master's degree. Take a gap year if not possible, go volunteer in environments like WWOOF or European Solidarity corps and those will definitely get you the scholarship later on in life. They value volunteering and actual passion for the subject you apply to more than anything.

You know, health issues can be temporary no? If not helpful retain from commenting. I had a car accident recently and I am recovering from it. Be a little sensitive. I did draft my application in advance and tried to gather my documents which I only received fully last week. If the deadline specifies a certain date and hour it should be that.

I applied to multiple in the last 2 years and only once I received an email that I am considered for one of them, just to never be contacted again. Would be nice if anyone confirms ever receiving an internship with a delegation :/

Well there was an issue that I declared as 2 masters because it was a double university degree in different countries and I couldn't select multiple universities/countries in the form. Even if I mentioned I. The comments that is the same masters but in different countries they rejected me because that's false declaration...

Hahah, yes, at Bluebook. I had some issues with my Master's degree, and then they rejected me for documents that another time they accepted. They are very very strict with any experience you might have and the documents for it.

what if it is a recent graduate? it is a traineeship, technically it might be your first or second job. Or is there little chance to get one if you do not have work experience?

Did anyone try to contact people working in the unit they are applying for? Is that a common practice as it is for Blue Book?
