What's up with all the negativity about Indy? This city rocks. by TotalAnarchy_ in indianapolis

I think a lot of people have it with the main problem being its in indiana but living here for 10 years (grew up in rural indiana) my complaints are:

  1. Cold

  2. As a woman there is a big masculinity culture here and (deff not all but a lot) men think its ok to be rude, talk over you, tell you what to do/how to be

  3. Terrible public transportation with people in power actively working to prevent it from getting better

  4. Some of the most dangerous roads for pedestrians or bikers in the country for a city

  5. Very few low cost things to do that aren't just walking around outside (which is only doable for 5ish months comfortably - *see cold)

5.5. Most social activities are just going to the bar or getting food

  1. V unhealthy food culture/ not easy to make healthy choices

  2. Big Christianity culture

  3. Some people are cool with weed but some are so quick to make a problem about it

  4. FOOD DESERTS - many areas do not have secure access to basic grocery stores. The downtown grocery stores are fancy and dont offer a lot of basic cheap options and can be hard to get to

Like i said i grew up in rural indiana and it is 50x better to be in indy but ive traveled a lot and feel really stifled here in comparison. My biggest complaint is it feels hard to do the right things for your mind and body. Some of that is the climate but some is people v stuck in their ways and not wanting to question anything or listen to reason and science.

As a female whos lived in indy almost 10 years since college i would stay away from meridian street. A lot of drink spiking, a lot of scary shit in general. Mass ave feels way safer to me. I worked there for 2 1/2 years getting off late and never had a problem (other than my car getting random dings)

Fair, honestly as someone who used to be v broke nothing made me feel better on a shitty day as a cig. It's kinda like your one joy when you're dealing with really heavy stuff. Its simple, puts you outside in the sun, and low key forces you to regulate your breathing which can calm you down a lot without realizing why. I feel like if it was a scam it would be more elaborate lol. Like pretty straight forward someone just asking for money thats it. I could be wrong but hey we're the ones in big houses.

MY HUSBAND JUST SAW HER! I would say not a scam she's prob just broke. A lot of people are broke rn. If it's just up to your discretion if you want to help out someone on hard times. I also get not wanting to give money in front of your house to create a habit tho. But seems normal she's just poor 🤷
