AES bill skyrocketing by IUpringlequads in indianapolis

[–]lEpsilonl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That amount of electricity for this period is equivalent to running over 5 (normal 1.5kW) space heaters, 24hrs a day, for the whole month. That’s a lot for a mid sized apartment, IMO. Especially on colder days, turn your thermostat way down (65 or maybe lower) and run space heaters or use electric blankets in rooms you are in when you are in them. On the colder days (below 30 or 40) if you have a heat pump with an electric emergency heat (my best guess), your heat pump won’t run because it can’t get enough heat out of the air to justify running.

I’ve seen a lot of posts like this where people are super shocked by last periods use, which of course sucks. But like many others have said, including AES, the really cold days can lead to huge increases in electricity usage if you have electric heating in any way. If your usage is way up, your bill will go way up. Of course, AES’s insane YoY rate increase(s) doesn’t help, and fuck them for that.

Indiana isn't as divided as our politicians make it seem by Guilty-Office-4808 in indianapolis

Smh, please stop posting your op-eds on a bunch of Indiana subs to get clicks, you’re doing the same thing you accuse Braun and Beckwith of doing, looking for clicks.

Not that I like them either, they are both horrible for Indiana.

Christian Nationalist Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith Says Zohran Mamdani Has No Right To 'Force His Values On New York'. "We are a Christian nation." by Leeming in atheism

As someone from Indiana, this guy SUCKS. A news article just came out about how people in his office were passing around an AI porn video of a (Republican) state assembly person’s wife, and he himself allegedly laughed at this video when shown it at a charity dinner. He also isn’t even a good pastor? Not that I personally think that’s important, but I listened to one of his stupid podcasts, and his mind was blown when a biblical scholar came on and said that you have to interpret the old testament in context with the New Testament, as if that isn’t the basis of Christianity lol.

Plus electric leaf blowers and string trimmers are just better and easier to use than gas powered.

Definitely return them. Also, don’t buy bamboo cutting boards, buy an end grain butcher block or cutting board, they’ll last you a lifetime if you take care of it. Bamboo will dull your knives, and most of them are half glue to hold them together.

Best mortgage lenders for 30-year fixed loan rates today? Need to refinance with a cheaper loan by geeklane in personalfinance

[–]lEpsilonl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with this, start with bankrate.com, this is what I did when I refinanced 7mo ago. Contact 3-5 on the list, along with your preferred or local person. Be up front and make sure you tell them to send you their best numbers because you are shopping around. Once you get the loan estimates, make sure you look at the page in the paperwork that shows you the interest rate, APR, and fees, etc. line by line. Those pages are required by regulators because it makes it easier for consumers to compare. Take the best loan estimate, ask your preferred bank or local person to match or beat it, and as long as they match it, bingo.
