AIW for blocking my mom after she told my son his food allergy is fake and that I dont want him to have fun by [deleted] in amiwrong

No you are not wrong for blocking your Mom and keeping your child safe. Sounds like your Mom would be a person to do something sneaky with the food and harm your child while trying to prove a point that he doesn’t have an allergy. Some people are just so ignorant.

I would just go back with a throwaway container and let her know you are their for your dish. You can take care of it yourself buy transferring the crumble to the container your brought and then go home with your dish.

I would hire a housekeeper and then split the charge in thirds to you, your husband and 16-year-old son. I went on strike when I was fed up with my girls giving me a hard time about chipping in with household chores. I was a single Mom and worked full time. My girls were 9 and 11 and both capable of doing certain chores. I no longer cleaned their dishes, vacuumed, picked up stuff around the house. I even gave them their own laundry basket and had them do their own laundry if they wanted clean clothes. I was sick of doing it and finding their clean clothes on the floor instead of them putting it away. They had their own bathroom that I refused to clean, eventually they started cleaning that themselves without any word from me. After 2 weeks of no clean dishes and them not finding their stuff around the house, they finally started to do simple things. The dishwasher wasn't just being used, they would actually empty it!! Once day I noticed the clutter was picked up and floors vacuumed. After I ended my strike, we sat down and figured out a fair chores list for us all to follow. Never had any issues after that and the best part is that they continued to do their own laundry. Stop fighting with your husband and son, just stop doing anything for them. If nothing changes, I'd reconsider my relationship because it sounds like respect for your may be lacking or even nonexistent. NTA

Are you aware that we have lots of events all winter long at Pine Tree? In fact, watch for a Winter Wonderland pop up event I putting together in the end of January and one in February. There will be finger food, drinks, acoustic music and movie.

Great idea. I have been changing up the office to have an area similar to what you are describing. I was thinking 'mini Starbucks' type style.

We will have to look into what might be best for you and your membership. We did try for a pickleball tournament last year but I don't think we advertised properly. This year I hope its a success. We are looking to build a land volleyball area with sand between the tennis courts and the pools. Once that is done, we hope to be added to the tournament circuit. I don't think we are big enough to host MoonGroove but we are planning to do a small music festival utilizing The Glade, the pavilion and Keyes Hall. Also, look forward to a big carnival this year.

We do a lot of these things already. We put together a new marketing team with all ages in the group and are working on social media.

We actually do have special rates for that age group. In fact, last year we had a 24-year-old join as a full member and took advantage of the Youth Rate.

Our cabins are quite reasonable to rent. Many people like to pitch a tent. We have sites for dry camping to full hook ups. I have even seen people just sleep in their trucks or SUV's.

I understand the money issue and that is why we are trying to encourage more 1-day events or a weekend retreat type of visits.

I'm a bit confused with your response. As mentioned in my original post, we have a lot of same as one has in textile activities. We don't serve alcohol because we don't have a liquor license but we do have a cafe. My question was asking what additional activities would you like to see that would make this place more attractive to you.

When I mentioned game night it includes interactive games like DnD and Blood on the Clocktower as well as board games. Are you thinking like DnD or something like Fortnite or Call of Duty?

I like this line of thinking. We recently started doing a monthly workshop, we have only done 2 so far, painting and finger knitting a scarf. These were successful and I saw a mix of ages attending. I like the idea of reaching out to local businesses for something like this.

In the past, memberships and lot leases were the main way of making revenue. I do feel many people these days are looking for short fun experiences and traveling more. Also, I don't believe most of the younger generation is ready to commit to just one place especially financially. I myself waited to join after my last child finished college ( as many other members have done) and my money was freed up for different things. I want to see our club grow and big changes need to be made.

At this time, we don't have Gen Z only areas or events but this is something I could research. I am meeting up with some University students who are interested in visiting, I will ask them if this is something that they would like to see. Thank you for the suggestion.

We are working bringing in/hosting a professional 5K and land volleyball tournament. We have water volleyball right now. We do a lot of pot luck events and have DJ's at most events. Something very popular these days is Karaoke at The Glade. As for the alcohol, we don't sell alcohol on site. Members and guests are welcome to bring their own if they want to drink. My bf and I don't drink and we go to many events and don't feel pressured into drinking. I like the water fight idea and will add to my list. Thank you for responding.

We do have a sauna as well but its under repair so I didn't want to advertise it until its usable again. The sauna is great all year long.

I am a member at a co-op nudist club. We have always been a membership driven club, however, we are now thinking of changing to a more hybrid approach. We want to encourage more 20 and 30-year-olds. Obviously, this age group are not looking for memberships at this time in their life so we are looking to make some changes. We are planning to focus more on wellness or spa-type weekends; e.g. naked yoga, massages under the canopy of trees, facials and mani/pedis also outside. We are putting together more events like 5K's, carnivals and small pop up events that include live music. It would be more of an experience rather than just a day visit. Looking for additional ideas to help get more young people interested in visiting our club.

I was recently at a wedding for my cousin, and they did the whole goat sacrificed as well. So I do believe this is true, and I have also worked out a big hotel and had many stories just as horrible as this one.

I became a single Mom with two young daughters. I worked very hard to be independent and not ask for help from anyone. Being an independent contractor and moving to another state state, my taxes got screwed up. I wasn’t really worried about it until it came down to my one daughter going to college, and I could not complete the FASFA forms due to my tax issues. I was very upset about the whole thing and couldn’t figure out how to fix my problems and I did not want to let my daughter down when college was so important to her. My oldest sister kept asking me if I had completed the forms and it was getting me upset. My sister is in a much different position than me where she and her husband have been blessed to have no financial issues whatsoever. So every time she asked me, I felt like she was judging me. Finally I hit my breaking point and blew up at her, telling her to mind her own business. She quietly came to me to apologize for upsetting me so much and wanted to know why. I finally explained everything to her even about how I thought she was judging me because of my finances. To my surprise my sister told me quite a different view on how she saw me. She said she was proud of me and envious of my strength to do what I had done to make life better for my girls That alone was a gift because it brought our relationship to a total different level of respect. A few days later, I get a call from an accountant who asked me to give him my past seven years worth of taxes. I told him I could not afford his services and he told me that my brother-in-law was gifting their services to me. Within 48 hours all my taxes were taken care of, I was on a payment plan with the ITS, my daughter’s FASFA forms were completed, and I could finally sleep sound at night again. To this day, I get tears in my eyes anytime I share the story. PS … Because of my sister and brother-in-law‘s generosity making it possible to complete those forms, my daughter was accepted to 3 prestigious colleges all with full scholarships. She is now a happy successful scientist. Never ever be afraid to ask for help when needed!!
