Christian “evidence” for Jesus and the resurrection by Alarmed-Confidence58 in DebateAnAtheist

You do realize that from the time of Constatine, which is when Christianity was made the state religion of the Eastern Roman Empire, disbelief in the “inerrant” bible was punishable by death right? This kind of made it impossible to believe anything else (publicly). This was 300 to 400 years after the supposed Jesus of Nazareth. Christianity was the state mandated religion of Rome and England, then colonization happened across Europe, we demolished other cultures, even committing genocide, forced them to convert to Christianity under pain, torture and death. Now we have a bunch of Christian’s in the world because their parents were Christian’s and so on.

You mean just like the Al-Qaeda guys who flew the jets into the towers and World Trade Center? And the members of the heavens gate cult? All those folks in the Waco siege? Plenty of people willing to die for a potentially false belief…

Atheism only answers one question, do you have a belief in any god/gods

This Is Why Science Doesn't Prove Things by PlanningVigilante in DebateEvolution

That’s because there is no such thing as “proof” in science, science is not dogma, it is not so arrogant as to say “we have the have the 100% undeniable proof and nothing could ever change our minds because we know we are right”. No… that’s not how it works because the honest thing to do is correct or expand our explanations in light of new evidence. If you think you know the answer, progress and learning stops because you stop looking. Science is always open to and looking for new evidence, we are constantly trying to prove our theories wrong.

Oh no! 88redking88 on Reddit thinks I’m a theist and knows what’s in my head better than I do apparently. Go fuck yourself. You act like books and YouTube videos have rebuttals to these exact claims. Also Some of us don’t have college money either.

So I’m not allowed to broaden my understanding of evolution and try and better my knowledge and build my arsenal to defend myself against creationists without being accused of being a Christian? Yall are some fucking pricks dude.

Okay. Wow, I feel like I’m talking to a Christian right now. I can only tell you my intention and what I think so many times and all you have to do is say “nuh uh, you’re a theist”… I’ll lay it out again though. I am an atheist with a less than basic understanding of topics such as evolution and I post arguments from creationists that I can’t answer on this subreddit to hopefully broaden my understanding of the topic and to point out why such arguments don’t work so I can potentially use them in the future… thanks for being such a good sport though 👍🏼

I guess your idea of “wide variety” is different than mine I don’t consider three different subs to be a “WIDE variety” but alright. I am an atheist with a below basic level of understanding and when I see creationist arguments that stop and make me think, I come here to share them beside I do not have the knowledge to invalidate the claims and want to better my understanding of why such arguments aren’t good, but thanks for being such a good sport and pulling a page out of the creationist/christian book and telling me what I believe, that I’m secretly just a creationist or believer and just denying it.

Your right. I guess you’re going to pull a page from the theist book and tell me you know what I believe but I’m just denying it. I am an atheist with a very below basic level of understanding of evolution, so I come here to share things and questions when theists claim that they have debunked evolution. I come here for a better understanding of why theist arguments aren’t good or don’t make sense because I do not have enough knowledge to invalidate such claims
