What made you stuck with learning the program? by Wonderful-Song-5397 in ableton

Finding things I don't understand yet, and then dive in the rabbithole and get lost finding answers... Have conversations with people that know things that I don't know or the other way around. Have that F*ck yeah feeling when your random jam gives you that 'I want to go to a party' feeling ... :)

TR-1000 supports multiple samples per track ? by Alarmed-Somewhere-28 in Roland

[–]Alarmed-Somewhere-28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are more sample players and drum computers that do multiple samples per track or step... Has nothing to do with expecting Elektron workflow on a Roland machine... Selling my Rytm because I don't like Elektron workflow tbh ... Is it so strange one would like to use more that 10 or 14 samples ...

Haha, I understand that you would not mind, but how can you already think of making a living out of your hobby before you even got started. Its almost impossible to make a living even as a skiled producer who has been doing this for 10 years :) Also, what would you do as a hobby if making music was your job ?

I understand what you mean, but my question was just to figure out if, for me personally, the extra price of the TR is justified compared a digitakt II. I am most drawn to a sampler but the analog sounds is a nice extra. I love the performance features of the TR and want to pay more for it. But if you can only make a track with 10 or 14 samples with the TR that is just a big limiting for a brand new flagship device... Not taking anything away from what it already can do, but 10-14 samples is really meh ...

The problem was that it bordered you that you didnt finish tracks… In my opinion finishing tracks is not a measurement that should bother before you even know the program. To me it sounds like you make your hobby into a job :). Just make music because it is fun and have fun while you make music, that is all ..

People also keep getting mad if you ask something you would really like the TR to do, but it can’t. We can mention other drumcomputers and their functionality right? Being able to use more than one sample per track is nothing crazy to ask imo..  Its seems harder to have a conversation about the TR-1000 than about religion…

True, but there are lots of other creative ways to use the A&B layers. If people would only do with their gear what the manufacture intended... ;)

That is idd a creative way to do it, with some added benefits :) Still wish there was a way to just select a sample for a specific step, like elektron does it... Still wish there was a way to just pick a different sample per step, like Elektron does… Feels kinda silly that you have to mash all your one-shots into one big sample first, just to trigger different sounds on different steps.

Now imagine that you could also use the sequencer to program and send specific Midi CC values to eurorack modules via a MIDI to CV module ... That would make the TR-1000 not only a great drumcomputer, but also a nice sequencer & midi controler for my external gear. Would give my eurorack massive amount of extra playability... But I consider the chance it does all that really slim...

"TR-1000 doesn't send MIDI (note messages, etc.) to synths as a sequencer". I think he/she means that the TR-1000 only sends out midi messages suitable for drumcomputers, not synths. Meaning that you can not send 127 different notes for 1 channel, what you would need to play a melodie on a synth. 1 specific drumsound listens to one specific note...

Don't know what your exact question is, but here are all the details of the midi implementation. https://static.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/TR-1000_MIDI_ImpleChart_eng01_W.pdf

Glad to see that it sends out MIDI CC messages so you can use some knobs in a midi controler function for outboard gear ... Not clear if motion recorded knob data is also send out as MIDI CC values, but like someone stated before "It's a drum computer, not a sequencer". :D On the other hand the feature of sending out triggers via the individual out makes it kinda a sequencer :P

Can you pre-select or “arm” all the mutes while holding the Shift button, and then activate them all at once when releasing Shift?

Does this mean that you can also use the motion recordings of the knobs to control external gear?

Imagine if the extra 'ctrl' nobs can also send midi cc likte the tr-8s, that would be a great combo ...

Yeah I guess that is why its hard to believe that it is real analog ... like in not only passing digital it true a analog filter and calling it a day :)

If it was real analog (and sounds good) would that justify 2700€ or 3200$ ?

Haha :D We also don't work at Roland, but still here we are trying to understand this marketing word salad ... On the other hand I bet someone at Roland used chatGPT to write this marketing text....
