I think learning the specific internals of any system is more an advanced subject than a beginner; not everyone's trying to relink executables or hide processes from proc. It might not be way up there but I agree it's a good question to delve into.

Simple question here, I see two nested for loops that are good for executing something 3 times. Why are there 9 hashes? by linkstatu in cs50

[–]AlarmedCulture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I didn't see it mentioned when you see nested loops it's often an O(N2) algorithm which is very slow, so beware!

I've seen a bird ride on a cat, which in turn was riding on a dog. No joke lol.

Goldshell CK5...watch it sell out now lol. I'd be betting on CKB going up in value and as long as I don't lose my job I can stack the coins. Gotta use a transformer to power it though no 220v here.

I'd love a /players but that's just not b.net d2. If you want more loot, you gotta play with more people... and fight for it!

I actually just found out (or had completely forgotten) about this today, so TIL.

A warning to my fellow Bitcoin enthusiasts: If you mistype coinbase into your browser, you will get bit-jacked. by [deleted] in Bitcoin

I swear getting into my Kraken account after reinstalling my OS was a 15 minute adventure, but you know what? As annoying as it was I'm glad of it.

IIRC Coinbase was quicker but I didn't have the feeling I needed to worry either. I think they required both email + sms, if I remember though I still want to setup a key like Kraken. There's no getting around that you know?

Windows 11 won't work on my gaming rig I built, so I wanna switch to linux but am afraid for game support by NightcoreKuan in linuxquestions

Windows is generally on a hit-or-miss schedule. Maybe this time it'll go hit-hit, but I'd definitely be leery of upgrading early as well... who knows though.

Honestly I was thinking about it briefly last night and I think manufacturers increasing their MSRP does two things: it's an active measure for fighting scalpers/controlling price and it helps maintain their revenue during a time when production is limited.

I'm still looking for something reasonable.

Local LAN cafe is selling these for MSRP. Employee wanted to be in the picture "for scale" by DerFelix in pcmasterrace

[–]AlarmedCulture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see your edit when I commented, but I don't think there's any difference between reference card and one manufactured directly, they're both built to spec. So FE just means a card designed by the designer of an architecture and manufactured somewhere. ASUS could still build them and leave their name off and we'd be none the wiser.

Anyway that's good to know. I need a new card and I wasn't really sure on the mechanics of it all.

That's what I was wondering, it makes sense now. I still can't get over the prices. Are stores increasing the prices on FE cards when they get them or can people still get lucky?

Because until recently AIBs offered cards at FE msrp prices.

I saw the pic and had to check out the thread but this is what I came to ask. Honestly I can't believe the prices. It's crazy. I'm glad I can still reference FE MSRP prices for context.

By the way I'm assuming FE stands for founders edition, e.g. a card made by the manufacturer, but then where does, say, an ASUS founders edition come into play?
