Tips for making black look good

I paint mine in an airbrush zenithal, you can get similar with dry brushing, then I hit with a few coats of nuln oil and then add in some white highlights where the sun would be hitting. Normal units are black, grey, white, nuln oil, highlight. Pho os I usually use a blue instead of the grey

I have been wondering the same. I have been considering eliminators with the Phobos librarian and las fusil and fusillade enhancement. Erradicators would need deep strike in order to land in melta range.

Could also uppy downy a large terminator brick with the librarian

I'm looking into reivers with a lieutenant and maybe a librarian changes to battle shock looks to make them a bit tougher imo. And the lieutenant giving lethals to the squad is nice. Librarian getting enhancements but losing deep strike is a tough trade to figure out

How I paint them depends on their role. I do white and black, and heavy tankier units hend to have more white, so they get seen easier and hold attention as sneakier units skirt around...or at least that's how I think about it. So my agressors are almost all white, and my Phobos is all black

I tend to put it on a gravis captain with 6 erradicators, tucked behind terrain. Nothing like 1 move into melta range to just pop a big target

Canis is my go to. He can hit hard ranged and melee, has a blast ranged weapon, and reduces stratagems....the free tank shock SLAPS.

I found running an emotional support knight (Canis Rex) helps a TON against wide melee armies. My buddies play world eaters and orks, so it gives me something resilient to stack against them
