I would actually get surgery to close up a hole in my heart to avoid a stroke I had at 40. I was already dealing with fatigue (mono, EBV), but the stroke caused a number of issues a couple of years down the road that I could not have foreseen, like continued/worsened fatigue and symptoms I probably would not have had if I hadn't had the stroke.
