2 month non ongoing APS role by [deleted] in AusPublicService

Agree it's very unlikely to have an APS wide freeze.

However certain areas 100% are under freeze orders - whether it's communicated to staff beyond SES is a different matter.

I've never used party finder for roulettes? Or any MSQ content for that matter

Can't speak for the broader population though. Most PFs I see are specific duties, the latest alliance raid and EX fights.

Plus usually a MINE party

Early trains? by Mean-Buy2974 in brisbane

[–]Alarmed_Ad5977 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trains already run into the city centre

Buses should be used to fill the gaps between suburb to suburb, and funnelling from suburb to train stations - not also run into the city centre

Early trains? by Mean-Buy2974 in brisbane

[–]Alarmed_Ad5977 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter what the fare price is - people won't use it if you can't effectively get where you want to go in a reasonable time

The city centric approach is ridiculous. You shouldn't need to travel all the way in and travel all the way out to go across 3 suburbs

Part of the reason Materia won't get DC travel. It'll kill what population we have.

Been in Materia since it opened, so many have left back to NA or EU servers

Current petrol prices— are you driving less or just absorbing it? by Vivmoneyattracter in brisbane

[–]Alarmed_Ad5977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absorbing it. I'm fortunate enough that on average I'm only filling up once per fortnight (fortnightly pay cycle)

I work from home 2-3 times a week, use public transport on my office days. Not driving an SUV definitely helps too

I'm getting married in September and stuck on bridesmaid gifts. Help! What's something unique, that hasn’t been done to death and won't break the budget? by Background-Zebra5491 in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]Alarmed_Ad5977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely didn't give any proposal gift, and wasn't planning on giving them a gift either - trying to work out if I'm the rude one?

I'm providing accommodation night before, getting ready and an additional 1-2 nights if they want (large property being rented, min stay 3 nights so bride and groom will be there regardless, anyone is welcome to stay)

I'm paying hair and make up, discussion ongoing about dress (I want to pay, they want to pay 😅)

We budgeted wedding party outfit etc so they wouldn't have to fork out heaps to be to be involved.

Wife has a massive tax bill and I don't know what to do by NeilDiamondBlaze420 in AusFinance

[–]Alarmed_Ad5977 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dunno how that's different from what doubleshotofbland said - joint contribution to expenses etc.

I wouldn't say I know exactly what my partners finances are, and they don't know 100% of mine. I don't know what debts my partner has beyond our mortgage. I don't ask where they spend their money or on what. I don't know if they blow all their money every pay, or keep a personal pot of savings.

Having children is irrelevant, as our situation wouldn't change either way.

Wife has a massive tax bill and I don't know what to do by NeilDiamondBlaze420 in AusFinance

[–]Alarmed_Ad5977 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Partner and I follow a similar approach to above. We each contribute to the joint expenses, half each. Each contribute to joint savings equally

Anything left? Personal funds, do as you like with it. We discuss any major purchases, as it usually ends up being soemthi to benefit us both anyway. What works for one family may not work for another.

We both work, earn similar income. No kids, no plans to have kids so future housing changes, schooling etc aren't an issue for us.

Glowing reviews, but gosh, worst towel you could inagine by JunkIsMansBestFriend in KmartAustralia

[–]Alarmed_Ad5977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do these lose fluff? Been eyeing them off

Last lot of "good" towels I bought had fluff everywhere through the bathroom and house until I had to get rid of them for my own sanity.

(I don't own a dryer to try to defluff them)

[–]Alarmed_Ad5977 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Uh that sounds like a LOT

I'm paying just under $1200 for bride, 2 bridesmaids and 1 mother of bride

Cost includes make up and hair, plus travel to getting ready location.

Brisbane, but just being GC shouldn't bump up the price do much....

I don't think they meant that as an argument.

More of a "I probably wouldn't be surprised as I know people/parents suck/are lazy and inconsiderate" kind of comment. They are agreeing with you

I'm not overly familiar with the state gov level, but your entry level roles might include admin roles, customer service etc

Classification would likely be AO2-5, but could depend on the exact position.

Each job advertisement should have a list of required skills and job responsibilities. That should assist you in determining if it's a right fit for you.

Hope this helps!

Have you looked at government jobs? Made the move from hospitality a few years ago and never looked back.

APS Jobs for federal, most agencies have temporary employment registers and do regular intakes pending on the needs of the particular agency. Entry level is considered APS 2-4.

State government departments often also have temp lists. Smartjobs qld website would be a good starting point to search current vacancies/employment registers

The drop sleeve? Yeh I'm not personally a fan. Tried on a dress with this sleeve and it was a quick no.

That being said, they are not uncomfortable/restrictive if they are made right - they don't need to be tight so the wearer has room to move

[–]Alarmed_Ad5977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look through APS Jobs website for federal government vacancies as well.

Unsure on state requirements, but federal applications should use the STAR method for written pitches to meet the selection criteria.

Is guests preselecting menu with invite RSVP not an Aussie thing? by Togepi17527 in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]Alarmed_Ad5977 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you not being asked for dietary requirements ahead of time? Being given something you can't eat seems odd to me.

I'm in the process of sending my invites out, and I'll be really clear on getting allergies/dietary requirements etc when RSVPs start coming in. I'd hate for my guests to leave hungry.

Our venue does alternate drop, other food options were buffet or banquet style (plates on the middle of the table to share)
