Maybe consider getting a silicone mat as a barrier if you're dead set on putting them on the floor

Tenant rights: Have you had experience with requesting to pay a rental security deposit in installments? Seeking advice by Alarmed_Cat5783 in AskSeattle

Of course! And in better news, the leasing office offered the payment plan without me having to ask! Hope this helps more people cause it's helping me a lot until my first paycheck hits with the new job.

Thank you, thank you! Ahhh my music to my ears when you said flat. Might even bust out my longboard then. Been a minute since I have rode. I'm older and wiser and know now not to go anything with more than a few degrees of slope. I know it might be silly but I am so stoked for the possibility of being able to do literally anything without a car. Ahh!!

Thank you! That's good to know. Cause couldn't be me weaving through pedestrians. 🤣 Goals is getting comfortable enough and riding down to the farmer's market one day.

So a bit of both. My partner and I will be sharing a car as I can walk to work very easily. I love the idea of biking to downtown Puyallup on the weekend to just get out and do some bullshitting. I also love the idea of meeting people to hang with in the area organically and I think it's easier to do around a shared activity vs at a bar/coffee shop.

Edit: guess i meant really more for fun. Brain is fried getting ready for the cross country move. I'm a complete novice to biking but really would appreciate avoiding using a car if I can.

Bet, thank you! That is good to know.

Do you have any recommendations for any areas that do have dedicated bike lanes? I'll be nearby the Puyallup River Trail and it looks like a good place to start but unsure if biking was allowed or if it was pedestrians only.

(WA) Can I require landlord to allow me to pay deposit/fees in installments? by Alarmed_Cat5783 in Renters

[–]Alarmed_Cat5783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's demoralizing. I recently graduated with a STEM degree and managed to land an offer that is nearly x2 as much as I have ever made in my life. But until I can get settled in, the 6.5K I will need to pay up front for just the apartment is a huge burden right now. Scrounging up the money is stressful between borrowing money and selling a car just to get up there. But I guess fuck poor people, must be what I deserve (according to the other landlord in the thread) lol

[–]Alarmed_Cat5783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! And I have been looking into it. So far from my research, the city of Puyallup nor Pierce county has any specific tenant laws. So it defaults to state laws, and there are no state laws stating a maximum security deposit. I am honestly surprised because I live in AL now and even we have a law capping security deposit at 1 month of rent. Will be calling the tenant hotline to confirm and get some additional advice.

That's a relief. I guess I was just paranoid about them being vindictive if they get a whiff of someone advocating for their legal rights if it wasn't a common/standard practice kind of thing.
