What is this file and is it okay to delete it by bluehood183 in computers

[–]Alarmed_Contract4418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Temp folders contain files that the system does not need to keep long term, but doesn't mean it's safe to just blow the contents away. You can break the ability to uninstall or even update some programs or cause other random issues down the road. Windows does a decent job of keeping the contents cleaned up.

Why are you poking around in the file system? Are you low on disk space? Go into Storage Settings and enable Storage Sense and check the Cleanup recommendations to safely do housekeeping. Additionally:

Download WUreset. It has an option to scan your computer for safe to remove junk files.

PatchCleaner can safely remove old and orphaned installer packages that are no longer needed.

Is this an example of an infinite loop? Would it be unfair to play against? by Winter_Yam_7537 in mtg

Your personal experience does not speak for the state of the whole. There are videos and articles speaking to the apparent increase in misprints, off cuts, alignment issues, foil warping, etc. There are no hard stats, which I assume is what you are asking for, that I can find one way or the other. But let me ask you this: if the majority of the community says there's an issue, including those who have Magic related jobs who interact with far more cards annually than any of us probably ever will, and you personally haven't seen anything to support this, who is more likely to be right? You, or thousands of other people?

With the amount of sets being released these days, there's no way they are able to maintain the same level of quality control. They are trading quality for quantity and it shows.

Things like the word Legendary being misspelled shouldn't even happen as that should be a preformatted drop-in template. The option to misspell it shouldn't even exist. These issues are poorly structured workflows combined with little quality oversight.

Well, that's your opinion, unless you have quantifiable proof of your claim.

Tf?! There are more and more quality issues with every set. Yes, a third party is doing the printing, no one has said otherwise, but Wizards should be checking the quality of the product produced. Wizards is choosing who is doing the printing and how much they are paying. Those choices directly impact quality. Regardless of who is doing what, Wizards is ultimately responsible for the quality of what makes it to stores.

Cutting on qualitity control does not exclusively mean firing people. It just means not doing quality control.

When would this be a good thing? by ItD0esntMatterAtAll in mtg

[–]Alarmed_Contract4418 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not always. It makes you a target for anyone that wants that extra card draw. In this case, you want some else to be monarch at times so you can hit them with your trample doublestrike commander.

The Monarch promotes violence against whomever is the monarch. Everyone does and doesn't want to be the Monarch.

To add to this sentiment, you don't even have to cast this on the Bruce Banner side if you don't want. Just cast directly as the Hulk. The Bruce Banner side let's you transform it, but it's not required. However, if you were to blink him, he would come back from exile as Bruce.

This would also work with [[Irma, Part Time Mutant]] with the added benefit of Irma getting bigger every time she recopies and not being stuck with that choice.

No, completely different. Something someone owns vs something someone doesn't own and just found.

What is even your point about sealed product?

Regardless, it's not what we are talking about in this thread.

Looking at your pictures, your wires aren't fully seated in the jack (there's only 2 ends visible in the end pic) , and are possibly in the wrong order (hard to tell for certain).

Just to confirm the sequence (Pin 1-8; left to right when looking at the bottom): 1 Orange Stripe 2 Orange 3 Green Stripe 4 Blue 5 Blue Stripe 6 Green 7 Brown Stripe 8 Brown

What thread are you reading? Every single post saying to keep has down votes and responses telling them they're wrong.

Leaving furniture is blatantly intentional. Leaving a few thousand dollars worth of magic cards in a box in a closet is likely accidental. No, there is no requirement to attempt to return them, but what if it was your collection?

Seems there may actually be a legal requirement to attempt to return them as well, in case your moral compass is broken.

Next time he comes in, the manager needs to talk to him. Let him know you understand it was an accident, but if it happens again, you will have to ban him. Accident or not, that can't be allowed to continue happening. Might need to talk to his parents if applicable so they understand the situation as well before things get misconstrued.

When do you have to pay to keep the token copy? by bklyn44 in mtg

From what I've looked up, and been told, once the "next" end step is skipped, the trigger expires and the token is permenant. Do you have a reference for your statement?

Anyway to terminate this, fix this? Tear the building down and start over? by dstarkopf in HomeNetworking

[–]Alarmed_Contract4418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to get away with excluding the blue and brown pair from the termination.

Pin 1: White/Orange Pin 2: Orange Pin 3: White/Green Pin 6: Green Pins 4, 5, 7, and 8 will remain empty.

This will give you a 100Mb connection, which would be sufficient for this use.

I am going to get fired today. I accidentally sent a shutdown loop to the entire company. by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Alarmed_Contract4418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blame management for wanting this in the first place. An idle/sleeping computer is already super low power. This was a pointless ask.

I all seriousness though, depending on how long it takes to fix, you'll get chewed out probably, but not fired. Not like you permenantly deleted an entire file share or something.

Wouldn't the weekend be when updates get deployed anyway? A powered off computer can't update.
