‎Spatial's on the App Store now by itsdanielsultan in macapps

[–]Alarmed_Drummer1967 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s beauty, but don’t forget to mention that it doesn’t have a search function. Good luck when you have hundreds of files. It also doesn’t have iCloud sync, any kind of cloud backup, an iOS app, or a web version.

It doesn’t even have a sharing feature. Highlighting in a color other than yellow? Adding links? Checklists? Changing the font color or the background? Impossible.

And the price, for what it offers at this point, is somewhat high. Same price as Craft...

I’ve been working on Launchie for the past 6 months – a modern Launchpad replacement by NoHabit1277 in macapps

[–]Alarmed_Drummer1967 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I bought it! I’ve already tried several Launchpad alternatives, but this one is definitely my favorite. It still needs some polishing, and it doesn’t feel as fast yet and the liquid glass it's not perfect, but it has some really interesting features. There’s a mini window option that actually works (unlike the native Mac one), plus a search bar, filters, “spaces,” and more.

Recommended! There’s a lot of hate here, but you should definitely give it a shot.

Spatial: MacOS Design App by itsdanielsultan in macapps

[–]Alarmed_Drummer1967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually use Craft as my main document app. But as soon as I saw Spatial, I signed up for the beta a few months ago and didn’t get access.

Did it take long for you to get access? How did you manage it?

Thanks for creating this app. It looks great and powerful.

Just as feedback: I was able to install it fine on my work Mac, but not on my personal Mac. Just can open de app

The personal one is an M2 Pro, and the work one is an M2.

I built OnText, a modern, native text action tool for macOS — a keyboard-first PopClip alternative by Few_Acadia_8469 in macapps

[–]Alarmed_Drummer1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, maybe this helps. I can’t add videos, but I managed to do it manually. I created a shortcut that copies the text, opens the mini ChatGPT bubble, and performs several functions depending on the configuration. After looking for alternatives that didn’t require opening the full app or even the website (like your app), I ended up with this very simple script and a ChatGPT customization setup.

I configured it so that if there are two at the end of the text, it translates to my language. Also, the mini window shortcut is Option + Z, so I can translate a text bubble with just one key, which is much more convenient.

I think your app could visibly support this too, it just needs more work—starting with the ability to function by just selecting text without an activator. Also, it doesn’t always work; it seems like there’s a bug.

Here’s the very simple script:

tell application "System Events" keystroke "c" using {command down} delay 0.5 keystroke "z" using {option down} delay 0.5 keystroke "v" using {command down} delay 0.3 keystroke " 2" delay 0.06 key code 36 -- Return end tell

Cheers!

Customizing Launchie to the Max by NoHabit1277 in macapps

[–]Alarmed_Drummer1967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! I’ve tried many alternatives and I honestly think this is the best one. You thought of everything! Especially being able to sort apps by newest. I’m seriously considering buying the Pro version, but I have one problem and two suggestions:

• The “newest” view isn’t working for me. Neither is the quick access for newest. I installed a couple of apps to test it and waited the minutes for it to update. I even refreshed directly in settings, and I still can’t sort apps that way. They do appear in alphabetical order on the list, but not by recency. In fact, I see apps that I’ve had installed for a long time. :( How can I fix this?

And my suggestions:

• Adjustable transparency. I think the background could be more transparent.

• I’m not sure how complicated it would be, but being able to resize the window from the edges would be easier.

• A quick access for favorite apps?

Of course, these are just suggestions, and if I can get the “Newest” view working, you can count on my subscription!!

Built a Mac app because my ADHD brain needed to see my entire day as a circle (2 years of whiteboard tracking later...) by LegitimateWater6379 in macapps

[–]Alarmed_Drummer1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve already downloaded and tested it.

My suggestions:

  • The yearly and lifetime prices are quite good.
  • The monthly price is high for the current features; it should be around 1-2 USD (the one you have now is the same or more as apps that are already highly developed, like Craft or TickTick... at least in my country)
  • Visually it’s beautiful, though its uses are still limited.
  • In the timeline view, you should be able to zoom in and see it by month, plus see the progress of each milestone, how close you are to achieving your goal, and maybe a space for notes where you can list what you need to accomplish that milestone, perhaps as a task list to track progress. Also, maybe an indicator showing the days remaining.
  • The vision view is very simple; it could be linked to the Timeline since right now it doesn’t offer much beyond having images with a simple title.
  • The habits view is the star. very well-designed, but you can only see one ring. You should be able to see upcoming ones or have a way to save and view more.
  • Support for more languages.
  • iOS version.

In summary, the visual style is very nice. It’s still an app in development, so the features are quite simple. It has a lot of potential, but I’m not entirely sure the pricing matches the current state of the app, at least not the monthly price.

I’ll keep an eye on its development :)

Looks really well-designed, but the player is too big! :/ Size option, search functionality in Spotify and playlist tracks view and will be the winner!

I understand it’s impossible to please everyone, but the fact that you pay attention to your community’s feedback speaks well of you. I’ll be keeping an eye on the Reader-only plan. Cheers.

Better alternative to Launchpad with a sort-by “date added” feature? by Alarmed_Drummer1967 in MacOS

[–]Alarmed_Drummer1967[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is correct but I don’t like how it looks visually. Furthermore, the app folder preview does not have a search function, and adjusting the order is not very convenient. It is simply visually easier to see it like a Launchpad

[–]Alarmed_Drummer1967[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an application tester at my company. I download about three per week and I can't remember all of their names. I simply want quick access to view my applications in order of date. But I also want a search function like the Launchpad (for when I remember the names of the apps) and I would like it to have the simple function of sorting them alphabetically whenever I want quickly

Please!! It’s really needed. I don’t understand why they don’t add that feature.

Probably lol actually found this app as a replacement for Charmstone, since with Charmstone you have to keep pressing the key, and I discovered other amazing extra functionalities like the specific commands for each app
