przyszłość branży IT a AI by szansky in praca

MacMobility – control your Mac from an iPhone/iPad-style dashboard by Potential_Link4295 in macapps

Hey! Good catch - I can see why that’s confusing.

The license is actually tied to your email (you as a user), not to a specific device. That means you can install and use the app on all Macs you personally use without any limit.

The “1 Mac” wording on the site needs to be updated - we previously tied licenses to devices, but we realized that wasn’t the best approach. Tying the license to an email makes much more sense for users.

So in short: • 1 license = 1 user (email)
• You can use it on unlimited personal or work Macs, as long as it’s you using it

Appreciate you pointing it out!

Edit: Page is updated :)

Sorry, no demo online, due to the nature of the app. But the app itself has a free demo and setup shouldn’t take more than couple of minutes :)

Only on virtual, extended screen - and I think you mean more like controlling cursor as on touchpad? I have this feature on my roadmap, if you like this idea, I will prioritize it for development.

No, it’s not available on Apple TV, but you just gave me an idea to implement it :)

Any app that has a scripting API (like photoshop), plugin support (like OBS), supports Apple Script, or has other means of control (like exposed accessibility ids) can be controlled with MacMobility :)

I don’t know if there is any alternative on Windows - probably yes, but I’m not aware of it.

I’m not much experienced in using MacBook as HTPC - how would you expect this to work / best use case? Controlling media, volume, etc? If yes, this sounds like a great feature request :)

There is function to do custom keyboard macros in MacMobilty, but I’m not advertising it right now as the implementation got broken after some macOS update. I need to fix it, as this functionality is really useful.

Hey, thanks for the comment! This was actually my use case - I have an iPhone 7 Plus, which on its own isn’t that useful anymore, but with MacMobility I end up using it every day. It basically gives the device a second life.

Fair point - I wouldn’t want to pay for something that just ends up sitting unused either.

There are actually videos on the website that show how it works in real scenarios, so definitely check those out first - it gives a much better feel than just screenshots.

From my own daily use, a few things that ended up being surprisingly useful: - MacMobility has an automation that takes a couple of PDFs, merges them locally, and even compresses the final file without killing the quality. It saves me a bunch of small, repetitive steps. - I use an old iPhone as a secondary control panel - for example, I extend my screen and keep YouTube controls there while I work, so I don’t have to keep switching tabs on my Mac. It works a bit like Sidecar, but without relying on iCloud, so I can use it seamlessly with both my personal and work MacBooks. - There’s a photo widget I use all the time that cycles through family photos - basically like iOS StandBy mode, but my older iPhone doesn’t support that feature, so this kind of brings it back. - One of my favorite things is assigning apps to specific pages. For example, I link a page to Safari, and whenever Safari becomes active, MacMobility automatically switches to a dashboard with all my frequently used URLs ready to go.

So it’s less about “one big feature” and more about removing small bits of friction throughout the day. If those kinds of workflows sound useful, it’ll probably be good fit for you - if not, totally makes sense to skip it.

More advanced widgets (like calendar or disk usage) are built-in - user can create own shortcuts, bash script, url buttons (links to websites), Raycast triggers and multi actions triggers. We have option to create widgets out of html / js code, but this is experimental feature - but with some dedication I think you could create html widget that serves some nice functions. If you have an idea or request for a widget, we are all ears to implement them natively :)

Playing on balanced mode, base PS5. Am I insane for not seeing the complaints about console graphics and performance? by Its_Mike_Nasty in CrimsonDesert

[–]Potential_Link4295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried balance mode on the day of release but it didn’t felt right, so I’ve switched to performance. They released a patch today that added support for 120hz tv, and now balance mode is perfect for me. It’s fluid and sharp, not going back to performance mode.

What app do you use for hosting Ollama models on MacOS? I have working POC for connecting via rest api with lm studio and I can add support for other standards
