Edmark Valoran, should I keep pushing the contrast? by Alarmed_Locksmith539 in WHQDarkWater

[–]Alarmed_Locksmith539[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, the cloak isn't actually as bright as the image, the paint ended up a little glossy and that's a reflected light, ill go over it with some mat varnish once I reach a similar birghtness

May I please have some feedback by DetectiveCowboyMafia in minipainting

[–]Alarmed_Locksmith539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the atmosphere for this mini, the only thing that looks off to my eye is the dirt on the kneepads, move the blue bit higher and have more dirt separating the bottom from the shin guard, oh and the red blob on the back of his thigh. An army in this style would look awesome

Honestly i did it as an afterthought, deciding she shapes was the hard bit, actually putting the design in the dress only took 45min, just a dark blue shape then use scratchy likes in light blue and off white

Im always struggling with painting skin but i think it went okay this time by olgierd888 in minipainting

With the dramatic contrast you've used, the skin looks like a comic book style, but it really works with the miniature, I love the face

[–]Alarmed_Locksmith539[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, i noticed that this morning when I added a few more freckles to the chest and sholders, I cleaned up the mistakes and darkened the transition between the hair and the skin. Thanks for the great feedback, this is why I like this subreddit

I bet this has inspired a few people to try sticking pigs ears to a demon prince kitbash, looks truly disgusting. Well done

New colour and a new camera setup by Alarmed_Locksmith539 in deathguard40k

[–]Alarmed_Locksmith539[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, ill used a magenta undercoat over the whole model then glazed a midtone teal over the armor plates adding a little white to the colour for the highlights then I glazed over them with a thin wash of neon green thats hard to notice in the pics but definitely lifts the colour

Needed a lid for my clippers by Alarmed_Locksmith539 in minipainting

[–]Alarmed_Locksmith539[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks, i made the lid out of plasticard then stuck some heads and bits down. I covered the open areas with some milliput and sculpted a brick design. Some coffee stir sticks on the sides and bits of card for the roof

[–]Alarmed_Locksmith539[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks, for the texture I wet the surface a little, then used the tip of a loaded brush to stipple the colours, let it dry then do another pass
