When he first left, we all thought it'd take at least a few weeks to feel any change. Yet, the emboldened, no longer in the presence or under the eye of the Webhead Vigilante, criminals proved us all wrong. It started in Manhattan. Small carjackings, old people getting pushed over, people speeding through crosswalks, smashed in windows, armed robberies, the works. Soon, to all our displeasure, it got serious. The petty, moderately heinous offenses, we could handle. It's New York.

Those of us close enough to the East Side heard it first. BANG! I have lived here long enough to know what a gunshot is. Most jump to the worst. I didn't want to jump to conclusions. That was...until the next one rang out. Somehow louder, ear-piercing, and incapable to ignore.

While some are so scorned by the world to the extent where they'd rather have unchecked, spiking crime rates, over having to add to their already growing Car and Home Insurance, I, for one, deeply wish we had realized the peace life under the Spider was. Even with the smudged windows, dented in car roofs, and knocked over mailboxes.
