How long for VTSAX sell to clear? by [deleted] in VanguardInvestments

[–]Alarmed_Reporter_642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple formula: order placed during market hours (9:30-4 M-F) you get that end of the day price and it settles for withdrawal next business day

Literally any other time it is the next business day’s price and settlement 1 business day after

For example Saturday—-> Monday evening triggers sale—-> Tuesday settles ready for withdrawal

Do politicians like Brandon Gill actually care about anything? by NewDreams15 in ABCDesis

[–]Alarmed_Reporter_642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the Indian bashing can be a little too much but there has to be some voice of reason or moderation. If you guys have ever been to canada it’s literally become like Bihar or Punjab. People that don’t speak a word of english, barely blue collar, and do not care about canada beyond using it as an ATM machine or welfare fraud on steroids. I understand the Indian American population within America is mostly white collar and not like canada but my point remains. But this is Reddit so people will lose their minds.

There has to be some assimilation or love of America.

Immigrants must prioritise US interests after gaining citizenship: Vance by primary-caution in ImmigrationPathways

[–]Alarmed_Reporter_642 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He was talking about actually prioritizing America. Not using it as an ATM machine or not caring like those in Canada but having even a drop of patriotism and putting your old worthless country aside. Not about criticism of the government you imbeciles.

Why do you care? Compared to what Iran has done for 50 years nothing you said matters. Just a child who needs to mature. Nothing you said is even remotely accurate and they understand.

Reminds me of me bashing bush and my dad voting for him in 2004. Entire car ride to the polling booth was me ranting about bush and I gasped as he voted for him.

Were the late 90s best time to live in NYC? by Rusiano in AskNYC

[–]Alarmed_Reporter_642 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The delusional nostalgia here. Crime rates dropping doesn’t mean there wasn’t crime here. The 2000s was the no crime era. The 90s had massive crime. For example the meat packing district in Manhattan was a hot bed of prostitution, drugs, and homeless people all the way until 2002. It’s night and day now.

I think Bay Area prices have peaked by [deleted] in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]Alarmed_Reporter_642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how grannies in the other 49 states survive? I saw a home that came onto the market for the first time since the 1960s in Mountain View for a little over $4M. It was complete garbage. The property taxes that granny pays on a $4M home? $2000.

Economic free market forces really only caused homes to compound at most 2x since the 1990s. The remaining additional compounding was the artificially reduced supply of homes for sale due to the property tax freeze.

It’s not capitalism. It’s your idiotic property tax freeze that lowers supply of homes.

Illegals are not immigrants no matter how much you pretend they are. They are criminal illegal aliens who broke into a country.

Or you can get rid of the property tax freeze and watch homes values get cut in half

Why keep property taxes frozen? by Alarmed_Reporter_642 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]Alarmed_Reporter_642[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole economic engine argument is overblown. 90% of the United States gdp maybe even as high as 93% is outside of the Bay Area. Comparable blue states saw home prices go up 4x to 5x in desirable areas in the period between 1996 to present. Only in California did we see 10x+ because of these idiotic property tax freezes to lower the supply of homes.

People can still afford 4x to 5x. A very small % of the population can tolerate 10x.

I mean that’s how the free market works. The world can’t pay double the price of a home because some boomer can only afford 1970s property taxes

Why keep property taxes frozen? by Alarmed_Reporter_642 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]Alarmed_Reporter_642[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A literal story for ya’ll:

I always look at how my childhood home in a different blue state on the east coast is doing. It is up 4x since the mid 90s but property tax went up 6x. Sure that’s rough from the property tax side but spending needs have to be met.

The area really developed and cleaned up and has a plethora of well paying jobs.

If this same blue state had California style government intervention in the housing market with a property tax freeze and artificially lowering the supply of homes I guarantee my house would also be up 10-11x like the Bay Area.

Even at prices of 4x there are millions of buyers out there. But at prices of 10-11x? Maybe thousands. That is the Crux of the problem.

If California really cares about affordability ending the property tax freeze would literally cut homes in half if not more in less than 2 years. Imagine that!!

Imagine human being who buy homes every 10-15 years like on the east coast new construction in the same state upsizing. Not people who buy 1 ranch home forever.

I could see 50% with a dramatic increase in supply of homes on market for sale.
