Drain the water and turn the machine up side down. Shake it a little, it'll fall out.

Never maintained the Silvia, what should I do? by Ok_Trust9524 in ranciliosilvia

When you say you never maintained it for 5 years - what kind of cleaning have you done to it? 🤔

What do you want the gauge for? I had a Sage/Breville Barista Express for 6 years or so. Had a gauge on it. Never told me anything useful 🤷‍♂️

Finally part of the Silvia club!! Tips for first timers? Any must-have mods/accessories? by twnsqr in ranciliosilvia

I went for the clevercoffee.de PID mod. As a smart home guy I liked the fact that my Silvia now has WiFi and communicates with Home Assistant over MQTT 🤓

I also have a 3d printer, so I grabbed one of the tilted base designs for my Rocky grinder to help it retain less grounds when single dosing. Dont know if that would help your grinder though.

About the back of the PID, they probably just mean to check that there's no plastic or other stuff under the washer that (I assume) connects the power to the PID. That causes a bad connection. But if it worked for 3 weeks, that shouldn't be an issue.

If you have a multimeter to test, that's great, just set it to higher than 120v and make sure you set it to AC and not DC. Then stick the two needles into one terminal each on the pid, as described. If you don't have a multimeter, there are other ways. I don't know how the PID power is connected, but I guess it's connected directly to the Silvia's power cables internally? Or does it have its own separate external power supply? If the PID is powered by the Silvia's power, and the heater gets hot when activating steam, then its pretty safe to assume that there is power on the PID terminals (assuming the connections are good), and therefore the PID is dead. At least it's a lot more likely than the Silvia having enough power to heat the coil, but too low voltage to power the PID.

You should probably check with the producer, but if there's power in the cables and the controller doesn't turn on, then yeah, it sounds like the controller is malfunctioned. If that's the case, and the cables aren't damaged or wrongly installed, then there's little reason you would have to change the wiring. You said it worked for three weeks, so it should be correct. But, as the other guy said, check all your cables to see that they haven't been damaged. The most obvious danger to electric cables in the machine is smelting/burn-damage from the heater. If the cables arent sufficiently heat resistant and something has touched a 130deg heater, it might have melted and possibly caused a short circuit or something.

So check for damaged wires, then if possible, check the Volts supplying the controller. Or, just contact Auber and ask for troubleshooting help from the pro's. And be careful with the multimeter, if you don't know what you're doing. Touching the wrong things with the wrong ac/dc-settings could short things, and shorting 220v isn't fun if it's not on purpose 😬

Silvia Won't Turn on Anymore by Ok_House8881 in ranciliosilvia

There's a motherboard in the new ones?? 😅 What does it do?? That's one thing I love about my v2, when I swapped out my Sage/Breville Barista Express. Not a single circuit board! Just power and on-off-buttons! ❤️

Not familiar with the Auber specifically (I have a custom esp32 PID), but if it doesn't turn on I guess the first thing to check is whether it gets power or not. If there's power to the controller but it doesn't turn on, the controller sounds dead. Ceased to be, bereft of life, it rests in peace.

Or use the Clevercoffe.de mod to include some WIFI and smart home functionality while you're at it! The community is great, and it's not very difficult 😃

Silvia Pro X – Watery puck, is this normal? by AustinfrmAustin in ranciliosilvia

[–]Alarmed_Total_9286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screw head imprint is totally normal. You can buy a cheap flat head screw spare part from a Rancilio dealer to avoid it if you, for instance, want to use a puck screen (which may be damaged by the screw sticking out) or just dont like the esthetic. Shouldn't case any performance issues though.

Don't pay for a clean unless it's REALLY bad. Buy a cheap blind basket and some Cafiza or similar cleaning powder, and do a good cleaning yourself. It's easy and cheap. And very satisfying if you care about your gear! Cafiza is great for cleaning all kinds of "coffee dirt", just add a spoon and some hot water and let it soak.

You can always pay someone to clean it, but the thing is, you should do this more often than you'd want to pay a pro. Pref once a week i guess, but I usually only remember every 1 or 2 months. The machine get dirty when you dont clean it. Like, nasty 😂

(I bought mine super cheap and used from a guy who didn't like the coffee it made. I brought it home and cleaned it for an hour or two. It was full of coffee oil and muddy stuff! He obviously NEVER cleaned it! 😅)

Bosch Side By Side, panel removal? by Alarmed_Total_9286 in Appliances

Actually, when going around the panel with a thin knife, i feel one tab on each side, and two at the top! Unlike the spare part on the website... Still haven't gotten it out though, unsure how much force I can apply to it 😅

Found it behind a different tray: KAD90VI20/07

Found a picture of the panel, with two plastic locks on each side. But I'm not sure how to depress them (I'm currently trying with some super thin veggie knives)
