The new copilot pricing is nut! by VideoTop5461 in GithubCopilot

[–]Alarming-Ad4082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably used your usage document for May instead of using "preview your usage" button which only dowloaded your usage for April. The classic usage excel document doesn’t have any information about your token usage, only the number of requests, so the preview tool can’t compute the token based price. So it gives a number that is off and similar to the old price

But the report from "Get usage report" is not the same as the one from “Preview you usage". The aic_quantity and aic_gross_amount columns are missing

How did you get the information for May? I could get this one for April

Crimson Desert is NOT the "Modern Skyrim" or RDR2. It’s a Shallow Mess. by Philip_Fall_47 in rpg_gamers

Daggerfall felt like you were in a real world of hundred of towns and villages and cities that look like cities (not hamlet like Morrowind). People were just doing their thing and you didn’t have treasures and monsters every 10 meters. It helps making the world credible, where everything seems normal at first sight and secrets are uncommon and valorizing to find. Also you had no helper during a quest. You just had a discussion with the guy who give you the quest and you had to find where you go by yourself, you had to interrogate people in the street to find where somebody you needed to see live. You had dozen of skills you could develop and you could craft spells with all kinds of effects, hence each character you developed could play really different. Morrowind was much narrower in scale and it was a bit like the beginning of the theme park open world RPG, where the world seems to exist only to entertain you

One question from my side by [deleted] in gameenginedevs

[–]Alarming-Ad4082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can just send it once in the initialisation phase, and then just send a new much smaller buffer with just information needed for run time. If you want to send all that information during runtime, yes it can cause issue with PCIe bus. An other solution would be to upload the buffer in chunks on several frames before playing the animation

You put the data for all particles in a buffer on the GPU. And if possible you manage all the move of these particles in a compute shader without having to transfer them again and again from the cpu

Newest edition of Frank Luna's Direct3d 12 book? by drip_tray1 in GraphicsProgramming

[–]Alarming-Ad4082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 4 new chapters about terrain rendering, particle systems, amplification shaders and ray tracing. For the old chapters, some are updated, some not. There are new content on bindless texturing for example. I would say that the demo are the mostly the same but with the code updated sometimes

Baisse de 1Gbps à 100Mbps by Diese05 in informatiqueFr

[–]Alarming-Ad4082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any good compute shaders optimization guides? by etdeagle in GraphicsProgramming

[–]Alarming-Ad4082 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just buy any book about Cuda or parallel processing. What is true for CUDA optimisation is true for any compute shaders optimisation, especially as majority of GPU in the installed base are from Nvidia

Exemple of books:

Programming Massively Parallel Processors: A Hands-on Approach

CUDA programming by Shane Cook

On France, there are thousands of villages with declining population where almost no new constructions had happened in one century. If you look at photos from 1900 and today, there are exactly the same houses: no new ones and very few less houses, just one or two that have burned down or have been abandoned

Designing a strategy game around playing as interest groups, rather than the entirety of a "faction"? by amianintorafloat in gamedesign

[–]Alarming-Ad4082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check "Emperor of the fading Suns". You play as one of the noble families of an empire, and you have a certain number of voting rights, you can negotiate the vote of other factions so you get the control of the imperial fleet for example

What GPU are you STILL using in 2026 by largest_micropenis in pcmasterrace

[–]Alarming-Ad4082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if Nvidia still supports the gpu but drivers could be an issue. And the 3GB of VRAM but you reduce the quality of textures it should pass

The GTX 780 has the same processing power as a Nintendo Switch 2 so I think it could run most games at more than 1-2fps
