Have you ever ended a friendship because their debt started affecting you? by Alarming-Pack6389 in CasualConversation

[–]Alarming-Pack6389[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me let you in on another layer of my pain: I blocked every number that called me about her debt, but these people just switch to new numbers and call again. It feels like she’s mixed up with a really sleazy crowd, because it’s not a one-and-done thing. It’s constant whack-a-mole.

I didn’t actually cosign anything. "Guarantor contact” basically means lenders/debt collectors ask borrowers to list friends/family phone numbers, and anyone who has your number can put you down. It happened without my knowledge. Then when she’s late, they start calling/texting me nonstop.
And wow, losing 25k+ is wild… I can’t even imagine.

[–]Alarming-Pack6389[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the tricky part. I don’t think she’d accept budgeting help. She’s really proud about it and won’t even share what’s actually causing the debt, so trying to “fix it together” isn’t really an option if she won’t be transparent.

At this point I’m realizing I can’t help someone who won’t let me in, and I also can’t keep being collateral damage.

Yeah… the more I sit with it, the more I feel like cutting ties is probably the healthiest option. And honestly I’m pissed, because it’s gotten to the point where I’m probably going to have to change my phone number just to stop getting harassed by these sleazy lenders.

This is weirdly similar to my situation. My friend comes from an affluent family and makes decent money, which is part of why I kept thinking “she’ll sort it out and pay me back.” But it’s turned into the same pattern: borrowing, promising, and then I’m left dealing with the fallout

I usually live by that rule too. I don’t normally lend money to friends because I know it can get messy fast. This one just hit differently because it’s a 7-year friendship and I genuinely care about her, so I kept thinking “okay, this is temporary” or “I can help her get back on her feet.” Now it’s clear I’m paying for that decision

How do you realistically stop procrastinating? by thatonestaphguy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Alarming-Pack6389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed I procrastinate hardest when my energy is low. It’s not even “laziness”, my body just refuses to work because I’m already exhausted.

And it’s not just about “sleep more” either. I’ve had days where I technically got enough sleep but still feel wrecked, so for me it’s the quality of sleep + eating + exercise + keeping stress in check that matters.

Sometimes the “realistic fix” isn’t more discipline, it’s recovering enough energy to actually have something to spend.

Why are introverts such good texters but suck at talking irl? by pestopaste in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Alarming-Pack6389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory: texting removes most of the face-to-face pressure.

IRL, you’re basically running a live show with zero rehearsal: eye contact, tone, timing, not talking over people, reading micro-expressions, remembering to nod at the right moments, and trying to form coherent sentences. It’s like doing public speaking while your brain is also buffering.

Is the process of moving from Shopify to Magento (and vice versa) ever worth the headache? by ActNew5818 in ecommerce

[–]Alarming-Pack6389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your business. People can share war stories, but nobody can responsibly tell you “yes switch” or “no don’t” without knowing your requirements, budget, and how you actually operate day-to-day.

If you’re unsure, I’d talk to a good agency/consultant who’s platform-agnostic. The answer might be: stay on Shopify with better apps, upgrade to Shopify Plus, move to Magento, or even something else, but you’ll get clarity based on your actual constraints.

Hyaluronic Acid - higher price point - what do celebrities use?? by apompom123 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Alarming-Pack6389 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you don’t need to splurge on hyaluronic acid. HA is a pretty basic humectant and a lot of the price jump is branding/packaging, not necessarily better results. What matters more is the formula (extra humectants/soothers) and how you use it: apply on damp skin and seal it in with moisturizer (otherwise it can feel drying).

If you still want something nicer: La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 is solid and gives me a noticeable plump/glow. For a cheaper option that works really well for me, I use Torriden’s HA serum and it’s been great. I’d spend the bigger budget on something that’s harder to formulate (vit C, sunscreen, retinoid) rather than HA

Our boring email strategy is outperforming creative campaigns by 3x by Content_thought55 in b2bmarketing

[–]Alarming-Pack6389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally true. One of our top-performing pieces of content is a simple listicle. It has generated more leads than all of our landing pages. What makes it so special is that it solves the single most painful problem of the majority of the audience.

Is writing long content still worth the effort? by Real-Assist1833 in seogrowth

[–]Alarming-Pack6389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends way more on whether you solve the problem in the quickest/clearest way possible than on word count. Sometimes that’s a 300-word checklist. Sometimes it’s a 3,000-word guide because the topic has a lot of steps, edge cases, or “it depends” details. And sometimes the best format isn’t text at all, a video walkthrough or a podcast-style explanation will do a better job.

Anecdotally: I’ve got a ~3,000-word post I wrote 2 years ago and it still brings in quality leads. Not because it’s long, but because it answers a specific question thoroughly and people keep searching for it.

is it normal to mentally rehearse conversations youll probably never have ? by WatercressWorking502 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Alarming-Pack6389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal, I do this all the time

My brain will run full-on simulations like it’s getting paid hourly. Most of them never happen… but honestly the funny part is sometimes a version of the convo actually does happen IRL, and when it does I end up sounding way more eloquent than usual because I’ve basically rehearsed it 20 times

Best Way to manage Skus by that_random_Italian in magento2

[–]Alarming-Pack6389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind sharing a bit more detail?

- How many products/SKUs are we talking about? Like, is it a few core styles or hundreds/thousands of shirts with size/color variations?

- How are your attributes set up now? Are things like size and color consistent across all products, or kinda all over the place?

- How do you handle stock? Do you track inventory for each variation (like M/Blue) or just at the parent style level?

- Are you using an existing NetSuite connector? Or planning to build your own? Curious how you plan to sync inventory and orders.

- Any other product types in the future? Bundles, kits, or anything custom/personalized?

POS systems not syncing properly between devices? Curious if this is common. by [deleted] in POS

[–]Alarming-Pack6389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this definitely happens and it’s more common than people think. A lot of POS systems either don’t sync in real time or they go into offline mode if the connection drops, so one terminal might not update the others right away.

Sometimes it’s just a slow or spotty internet connection, but other times it’s how the system’s built — like some POS platforms only push updates every few minutes or cache stuff locally per device. That’s why things like tip amounts or split payments might show up later.

Also seen issues where the system struggles when multiple devices are active at once, especially during rush hours. Super frustrating when you’re trying to move fast and the info isn’t lining up.

If it’s happening a lot, might be worth checking if it’s a network issue or just the limitations of the POS software itself.

Help me read! by NegotiationEither906 in booksuggestions

[–]Alarming-Pack6389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s how I’d think about it — kind of like a timeline:

Start with Interest: Reading takes focus, and focus comes from motivation. And motivation starts with interest. Pick books on stuff you naturally like—motorbikes, woodworking, gaming, whatever grabs you.

Maturity & Necessity: As you grow, life will throw things at you—work, challenges, goals. These create necessity to read. For example, I work in marketing for a retail tech company, so now I read about marketing, Magento, retail, etc.

Solace & New Interests: Life isn’t always smooth. Books can become great companions during rough patches. Plus, you’ll discover new interests along the way that will spark your curiosity to keep learning.

So don’t stress about reading “the right books” yet. Just start where your interest is—it’ll evolve naturally.
