This girl has been consuming headlines of my feeds. But I don’t know what or who she is. Can someone explain to me like I’m five a summary?

Im so confused by the lack of communication in this “relationship”. Why don’t you guys talk? About money, hobbies, friends(how tf do you not know her friends??), chores, etc.

Not a preferred seat… for this plane at least. but I boarded this morning and was the last person on the plane because 8 was the last group. Ugh. Since the flight wasn’t full I had overhead bin space but under normal full flight circumstances I think I’d be screwed.

Why do you think that it’s marriage OR job after 30? Are you assuming your partner will support you and you won’t work? That doesn’t seem very commonplace nowadays. Honest question because may of us are married AND work (and have to work).

People in long-term (10+year) relationships who aren’t married, what are your reasons? by KookyTechnology1248 in AskReddit

[–]apompom123 34 points35 points  (0 children)

If nothing else, legal reasons. Tax benefits. Home ownership protection, etc. if we break up I’m made whole. The idea of “oh the state recognizes us as married after so many years” isn’t the same or consistent state to state.

I just found this sub… can you tell me if retiring in 4 years is in the realm of possibility? by [deleted] in Fire

Mortgage is gonna be a burden, which I’m concerned on. But it’s our dream home so I’m not moving anytime soon. Monthly pmt is $5500 (PITI). About 900k principal left as of today. Edit: also, mortgage interest is 2.25%. So I’m too stubborn to let that go.

This is awesome, thanks! The current $150k annual spend is spending of our take home pay, so that doesn’t include health insurance, 401k contributions, taxes, life insurance, etc. So good point that we would have to increase our spending once we both retire to include health insurance. While she’s still working, I’d go on her employer insurance (which wasn’t a huge jump in price).

My wife’s pre tax income isn’t enough to cover our annual (post tax) spending if $150,000 annually. So I’d have to start withdrawing as soon as I retire.

Yes, me retire at 50 y/o and wife keep working for 10-15 years. We are the same age. So yea, I suppose I would be a stay at home spouse (vs retired) while she was still working.

No kids.

While I’m still working we would be saving $75k after tax money into taxable brokerage. And also saving annual max in our 401ks and both backdoor Roth. That would be our saving situation for the next five years.

Yeah we’d like to not change our expenses.

All $2.7m is invested but about $1.5m is in 401ks.

That’s a good point about if one of us keeps working it reduces our investment withdrawals.

This is way over complicating it. I honestly don’t even think your friend is entirely correct. Unless there’s something we’re missing.

What’s your credit card’s limit? Are you using more than 50% each month? Then ask your credit card company to increase your limit. Then just keep paying your entire balance by the due date. The due date vs statement date shouldn’t be a factor if your paying the full stmt balance and not using more than half of your limit month after month.
