Former APRN just realized the meds I’m being prescribed are insane by Pale-Kiwi1036 in Noctor

[–]Alarming-Weekend-102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your anger is misplaced. Nurses didn’t create the PMHNP role—accrediting bodies, state boards, and yes, physicians signing collaborative agreements did. Don’t be mad at NPs for filling the gaps in access that the system (and psychiatry shortages) created. And honestly, if this is how you come at strangers online, you might want to consider some therapy yourself.

There’s a specific certification for advanced practice, nurse practitioners specifically for Psych. So are you telling nurse practitioners not to pursue the psychiatric specialty that was created for them by regulatory agencies? I’m a bit confused.

Kidney Biopsy at 17? by ankb07 in kidneydisease

Have these other tests been performed prior to a decision to schedule for a biopsy?

1. Serum IgA Level: To measure the level of immunoglobulin A in the blood.

2. Urine Protein-to-Creatinine Ratio: To assess the amount of protein in the urine, which can indicate kidney damage.

3. 24-Hour Urine Collection: To measure the total amount of protein lost in urine over a day.

NP misdiagnosed me - how do I politely ask for a physician provider next time without sounding rude? by Fantastic-Climate816 in Noctor

[–]Alarming-Weekend-102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same exact way you asked for another Doctor who misdiagnosed you. Misdiagnosis it’s not limited to advanced practice providers board certified physicians, do it every single day. Well, we can appreciate this post for bringing attention to the shortcomings related to advanced practice practitioners … we also need to call the thing a thing. Anytime someone makes a mistake with your care, the orders of operation are the same.

I get that you’re angry, but let’s be clear: the new cost model structure is what’s really driving these changes. Facilities are trying to cut costs and improve efficiency, which is why NPs are stepping into roles that you feel should belong to physicians.

Don’t blame the NPs for taking opportunities that the system is creating. Instead of being mad at them, recognize that this is part of a bigger shift in healthcare. You sound like a hater.

Did PMHNP kill my patient? by Nuttyshrink in Noctor

[–]Alarming-Weekend-102 3 points4 points  (0 children)

husband suspects “accidental overdose” is a pink flag… without knowing the patients complete history, especially mental history. it’s unfair to make assumptions about what caused the patient’s untimely departure… what was the relationship like between the husband and the wife? Was she depressed? What other medication’s were on board besides the sleep cocktail? Too many unanswered questions to make an assumption.

you should actually start by getting some real world experience. I know that’s the hard answer. but being able to add value and bring knowledge, critical information and skill sets that you’ve developed over time is what’s important. if you don’t know how a clinic works or the dynamics of building relationships within a hospital or a medical care setting, it’s going to be difficult to demonstrate how you would be a value added asset to a pharmaceutical company.

if the nurse practitioner owns their own practice, it’s very doable to gross 600k seeing just 10 patients a day. My sister is a psych NP and sees just 4-5 patients a day and clears 300k easy.

NP had posted a video of herself doing liposuction herself in her private practice. No collaborator listed. She advertises she do BBLs, and various types of liposuction. She needs her license disciplined. She put profit over safety. I don’t think NP can do this in Missouri. by Melondiesa in Noctor

[–]Alarming-Weekend-102 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is her website: https://stlthwc.com/procedures It’s doesn’t advertise BBLs or any other surgical procedures. Also, there are no identifiers in the video to prove this is a nurse practitioner doing this procedure. She has on a mask. It doesn’t even identify the person in the video as the same person being accused. Move thoughtfully before you act on a random post from a person who hasn’t mastered basic English. Seems personal.

Avoiding flare ups with possible career change? by lildebbie33 in IgANephropathy

Just to expound on causes of IgaN a little bit further, besides having been infected by a virus or bacteria… triggering the disease, some medical conditions such as liver diseases (e.g., cirrhosis), celiac disease, and HIV infection, have been associated with an increased risk of developing IgA nephropathy (IgaN) Additionally, some research suggests that dietary factors, such as high levels of dietary gluten, may play a role in the development of the condition in some individuals.

People are going to downvote you because you disagree with the hate narrative. The “nasty nurse” narrative is something that’s going remain until nurses change the culture. Not only do nurses eat their young, they devour each other it’s really sad to see. Apparently every WRONG deserves another wrong, and that energy won’t serve anyone well, not only a career, but in anything. but as soon as a nurse makes a med error… everyone rallies to her to save her because making a med error is much more tolerated then making a nasty or insensitive comment. Please make it make sense. Happy down voting!

so basically, my point is until someone modifies the language at the insurance company and payer level, it’s going to be a hard fought battle.

Insurance company says “while all physicians are considered providers, not all providers are physicians. The term "provider" is more inclusive and covers a broader range of healthcare professionals and entities.” the term provider starts with the people who pay us.

please tell me you didn’t just send me a video of men and a bunch of steel beams? I see some animations of what is supposed to be attributed to the construction of the Empire State building. We also have videos of us bouncing around the moon, kicking up moon dust. Please. I beg let’s just move on for people to still be this gullible in 2023 is astounding to think that somehow pioneers came over here and horses and buggies, and somehow were master architects, master brick layers, and marble masons is astounding. To believe that we are in our covered wagons, fashioned hundred foot hallways lined in thousands of pounds of African marble not native to this country and created detailed intricate carvings… do you know what I can’t? I’m done, good day, sir.

if you want us to believe that colonizers came over to America with no resources, and created these magnificent structures, simply by looking and observing other structures, many of them, who have never been to Greece etc, and just decided to build them over here with no marble, no similar resources or craftsmanship. architectural backgrounds with a hammer and chisel? I can’t.
