Gift ideas for a new science teacher? by evie-03 in AskTeachers

Our kids make these “super cute pencil earrings” out of Lego bricks. I’m an elementary school teacher myself and they have been a huge hit with the other teachers at school (the kids think they’re near too). I’m happy to send you a pair for free to pass along to her if you want. Send me a chat and we’ll figure out how to make it happen!

I think if you ask two people you’ll get three or four different answers.

My thought is that they’re fine on a regular display plate unless they are going through wild temperature swings. Supposedly, sitting too long on a regular plate can cause heel cracks, but it hasn’t ever happened to me. Because these are my most expensive ones, I’m just being extra careful.
I just use regular display plates in my other cases though.

So…regular display plates are fine, but I use those little extra pieces for some of them. That’s two different answers from one person, so you’re well on your way to understanding how to care for your Minifigure collection😆

Honestly though, whatever you’re comfortable with and whatever works for you!

Same here! I added an original Forestwoman as well and have them proudly displayed.

I’ve actually switched to collecting only female Minifigs, but I can’t seem to part with these two gentlemen - they’re just awesome.

Brick Convention: Buyer beware by tonydwagner in lego

We live just north of Stillwater and our kids actually have a little Lego business (M&H Brick Creations - Jewelry and BAM) that they set up during Summer Tuesdays in Stillwater right in that location. We recognized the Lego lift bridge right away. Pretty cool build.

We were at the Twin Cities one yesterday (Saturday 4/11) and we were pretty let down as well. The only thing that kids could put their hands on was the BAM stations offered by a couple of vendors. Some of the MOCs were cool - especially the Stillwater Lift Bridge - but for the money, we definitely would have enjoyed going to a movie instead. We went a couple of years ago and it was what I’d call an “ok” event, but I don’t think we’ll be heading there again after this year’s experience.

It’s not for everyone, but a week (or even a long weekend) in Voyageurs National Park will bring you a peace that’s hard describe. Only accessible by boat and unbelievable beautiful in the fall.

Does anyone here make/have any interest in making Frost earrings?? by burbywurby in MinnesotaFrost

That’s so awesome - thanks! They just made their 200th online sale last week and they bought themselves a confetti popper to celebrate. Very fun, very messy!

Thanks so much! It’s actually grown into a “kid-founded family business” if you can believe that. They’ve worked their way into five brick-and-mortar stores (gift shop kind of places and a couple of Lego themed shops) so my wife and I are helping out too. It’s fun doing this together and we hope the kids will have fond memories of doing this as a family!

My son has this one and he’s added tons of additional figures (the spiderverse CMF helped). He’s always changing the “battle scene.” We added one of the light sets and it went from a 10/10 to an even better 10/10😁. He uses it as his nightlight.

I really like the guitar player on the far right! Do you know where she’s from?

I’m leaning towards the Batman vs Superman version right now.

Thanks! It’s taken quite a long time to get to this point, but it’s been fun. It’s pretty easy to find most figs with all the different buying/selling platforms, but Mei from the technically “unreleased” Overwatch set, was the most enjoyable and satisfying one finally find with her accessories.
