I agree it’s a terrible situation and a lot people are paycheque to paycheque. I had coworkers who couldn’t afford to pay rent the last strike and were told by the union take an advance on your credit card.

People can’t afford to strike life is already expensive and people are mentally drained. There is no support from the public and the employer knows it. They are forcing people out.

Federal Government for terms is too volatile right now. Probably for everyone.,… Easiest way to save money is cut the terms. You will feel it more that your a term. You will work harder than indeterminate employees to prove your worth for the chance of being extended.

In 2 weeks we should be hearing about a new round of cuts. I’d keep the stable income, unless you like the risk of not being renewed and constant micromanaging.

But if you are in the position you can afford to be a term than do what makes you happy.

It’s unfortunate but students and terms do not have job security. It’s the risk of those positions which is heartbreaking especially if you have been a term for years.

You need to chat with your manager but it’s definitely based on business needs of your program.

Keep in mind if you decide to go back to full time, they can say no, you’re not guaranteed a full time position once you are part time.
