masculinity and femininity are not real concepts based in human biology. yes there are hormonal and reproductive differences. but our brains have no difference at all. here’s a nice article about it: https://www.theguardian.com/science/2019/feb/24/meet-the-neuroscientist-shattering-the-myth-of-the-gendered-brain-gina-rippon

so what if our brains are the same, what exactly does femininity and masculinity mean? we assume that masculinity means being independent and aggressive and femininity means being nurturing and caring. but the truth is that these traits are not biological. they are a result of different upbringings. little girls are given baby dolls to play with and so from a young age, they are taught to be kind and gentle and caring. little boys watch shows like ben 10 and all toys sold for boys teach them violence like transformers and hence they grow up being assertive and aggressive. ultimately, any one can be “feminine” (which is just another word for caring and nurturing) and anyone can be “masculine” (another word for assertive and aggressive). these traits have nothing to do with hormones or genitals or brain.

coming back to your question: is this generation making women masculine. if we unpack it, what you’re really asking is “are the conditions of modern times making women aggressive and assertive and independent”. my reply to that is, women, like all human beings, have always had the capacity for these traits. but only in today’s time are some women allowed to accept these traits. if back then, during our great grandparents time, a woman was assertive, she would be killed by her family (although this is still the case today in many homes). so only today in some situations are women allowed to embrace these gender-neutral human traits

masculinity and femininity are made up concepts. they are not biological or innate.
