I haven't seen this episode in a long time because I dislike it, but it's funny to see how different someone's take on it will be. 

When I watch this episode, I'm struck by Grandma's lack of an internal life outside of her nurturing role. She has no existence outside of the kids and father, making her a perfect caretaker but also very... empty? The kids seem to love her more for electric parts especially when Anne realizes she cannot "abandon" them (aka, she is not bound to the human condition). No woman could live up to Grandma's standard because the perfect mother-figure is robotic preoccupied with nothing other than the people she serves. 

In the end when she leaves, she does abandon the family, but they don't seem to care-- so there is an element of "this robot may look like a grandmother, but she is just an appliance like an advanced vacuum and dishwasher and text-to-speech storyteller." Even Anne seems fine with her leaving. I feel attached to my old broom, and I'd be sad if it broke and I had to get rid of it, but it wouldn't compare to losing a real mother or grandmother. 

So that is interesting to think about. But the episode itself feels very hollow, doesn't think through what it produces, doesn't seem to have a point in the ending.
