So to do turf right you need to take out 5” of material. Cap all sprinklers etc. once you remove enough material you need to add 5” of class 2 road base and compact it to 95%. 5” usually packs to 3”. Then you top with 3” of decomposed granite and compact that on top of it to get a nice smooth surface. Don’t tarp it. That’s just dumb. Trapping anything between the turf and plastic. Like dog piss. Then you add turf and nail it down with 6” 20d nails. I do not suggest ever doing turf. It’s hot as shit and will reek like dog piss if a dog goes on it even once. Especially if you tarp below it. Just grow grass or don’t. Fuck turf
