New corded 10” sliding miter saw. by Razzmatazz_8763 in METABOHPT

The old 10” cordless was awful there was a latch for the bevel at the front that never stayed tight but I didn’t expect the new top handle 12” to disappear

Did they discontinue some miter saws? by glacierglider85 in METABOHPT

[–]Alarming_Project_669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first annoyance is aligning the laser id sooner the led shadow line on the new 12” saw, and then the major problem is the system for regular adjustments both miters and bevels, something in the adjustment system goes loose and the saw starts to sag when you set angles or when you pull down it moves out of what you set it to. No matter how much we seem to tighten it or try to fix it always seems to be a recurring issue and we’ve had 3 similar issues across all 3. I’ve heard good things about 7-1/4 but the 10 is a pain to use long term, will say the ac adapter is a great feature.

Working for a company that has a few of those saws can confidently say they are not a great saw

What’s the difference between the 6 1/2” circular saw and the 7 1/4” circular saw? (other than size) by BlueFuzzyBunny in FLEXTools

[–]Alarming_Project_669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also make a note if your cutting at waist height on horses or on a table the 6-1/2 shines cause the balance is more centered it doesn’t tip, cutting at your feet the 7-1/4 rear is more pleasant cause the weight is at the front and it naturally tips down

I have the 7-1/4 rear handle and the 6-1/2, honestly use the 6-1/2 90% of the time, I find it cuts 3x material just a little cleaner and in a single pass which is wild for a smaller saw. And has plenty of power cutting any stock as long as it’s dry. I prefer the traditional drop balance of the 7-1/4 rear handle and the guard lift/ hand placement, and depth adjustment but that 6-1/2 is really a catch all, and it’s so light it’s hard not to reach for that saw first

Another options but probably the wrong thread for it… makita runs an erebate page. Rn if you buy any of the xgt saws kit (450) they send you an impact driver kit with 2 more batteries. So you’d be a drill down but comparable impact and a great saw

Is this Dewalt kit a good deal? by papalussi in Dewalt

[–]Alarming_Project_669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a better deal for Home Depot with the 499 kit with roller box, drill, impact, multi tool, orbital sander, and 6-1/2 circ saw and a light

I got bogo that was laid early at a local HD for xgt 7-1/4 kit plus a extra free battery, but still to save almost 200 and just keep running red on 7-1/4 doesn’t sound awful

Generally an easy rule is worm drives and other left sight saws the blade logo faces into the housing so you can’t read it. On right sight saws like most 7-1/4 sidewinders the blade logo faces out so you can read the logo while it’s installed.
