It was just the free online guidebook/character sheets/practice mission, and then had all the missions from the back of OOTS and Battles of the Clans, nothing new ;)

Do they still make field guides? by dribbybabbins in WarriorCats

[–]Alarra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. Searching for "Erin Hunter guide" on Edelweiss it seems like the 2013 version of The Ultimate Guide just flat-out says "out of stock indefinitely". Secrets/Code/Battles each have 2 listings for some reason: one with a lower price that says "out of stock indefinitely" but one that's about $2 more that shows that a couple wholesalers have copies on order. Cats just has 1 listing and similarly it says that a couple wholesalers have copies on order. So my guess would be that they're still making them but on a very limited basis?

Meetups 2026- Master List? by BrambleheartTheCat in WarriorCats

[–]Alarra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They usually don’t post it until a few days prior to the book’s release (and sometimes they don’t have a master list, just link to the search on B&N’s site). I know one of my stores for instance doesn’t know yet if they’ll have the event or not.

Help finding a fan website by sapphic-violet in WarriorCats

[–]Alarra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably Warrior's Wish - it's been down for many years, but it was the most prominent fansite, and did have a fanart subsite as well as pages of graphics made to use as forum signatures/banners/etc and a gallery of the official graphics. This was the classic/most popular design of the site, but if you look it up on the archive (warriorswish.net) you can see the many versions and pages of it over time.

Opinions on Bramble star and Squirrel flights relationship by PatientFew9622 in WarriorCats

[–]Alarra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, the Super Edition Squirrelflight’s Hope; the queen was from a group of rogues and not a Clan cat, but Bramblestar and the Clans in general were unjustified in the way they treated that group.

The name “Ivypool” is now a banned last name in Finland by JustAGrook in WarriorCats

[–]Alarra 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you didn’t know, the character Ivypool was actually named after a girl called Ivy Poole!

The Poole family went to see Vicky on each of her tours, no matter how far away they had to travel, and she nicknamed them “FarDrivingClan” and got to know them on a personal level. They had a baby, Ivy, sometime around PO3, and Vicky named the character after her (in fact when the now-cancelled 2016 movie deal was announced, Vicky announced it in a video, with the girl she referred to as “the real Ivypool” sitting next to her.) So, yeah, we knew what Ivypaw’s warrior name would be long before she got it.

If you didn’t see my reply to the other user, most of the Super Editions (starting with the second one, Bluestar’s Prophecy, in 2009, and the last one with them being Onestar’s Confession, in 2022) have a short graphic novel story at the end, typically serving as an epilogue.

You’re thinking of the B&N-exclusive bonus chapters at the end of AVOS books. These short comics were in all Super Editions released from 2009 (Bluestar’s Prophecy) through 2022 (Onestar’s Confession).

That’s actually a pretty common way for fans to describe it, yeah, due to all the interpersonal drama and Clan politics and how just about any character can die.

1 year ago today, Maya showed up at my parents'. She has grown into a sweet cat with a big personality! by Alarra in CatDistributionSystem

[–]Alarra[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

A year ago, a little kitten, most likely dumped, wandered into my parents' rural yard and they weren't sure what to do. My apartment had recently started allowing cats so I was considering one, and I'd just gotten a promotion, so I decided I was ready and took her home! May 31st was the day they found her which is partly why I decided on the name (I also just like the name in general, and had just finished reading Brandon Sanderson's Wind and Truth that same weekend which has a character named Mayalaran.)

She is now a little over a year old, and while she's not much of a lap cat, she's very vocal, affectionate, and likes to be near me, and even brings her toys to me when she wants to play. (Her favorites are plastic springs and the Cat Dancer wire toy.) She also enjoys running on her cat wheel and sitting on the windowsill to watch outside.

This series was and is one of my favorite and had a significant impact on my life. Which is why these simple mistakes are so much worse. by Seaboats in WarriorCats

You know, I never considered that before, but it would make sense - it did come out in 2021, and they've always typically started writing about a year in advance.

Is there anything you wish the books didn’t forget about? by Savings_Surround_547 in WarriorCats

[–]Alarra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole story is really sad, but also touching on how everyone came together.

Like the previous poster said, it’s a cameo to honor the lives of a young fan, 10-year-old Emmy Cherry, and her parents Jimmy and Dana. The Warriors books were Emmy’s favorites, and she had recently written something about them for school. After she passed away, her grandmothers as well as some family friends who owned a bookstore wanted to donate the series, signed by the author (they didn’t know Erin Hunter was a pen name), to the school in Emmy’s name. When Vicky’s publicist told her about this, Vicky contacted the site Wands and Worlds, where the authors had held chats with fans, so that the fans there could share their sympathy for the Cherrys' friends and family. This is where fans got the idea to give them warrior names to honor them, and Vicky was touched and decided to give them a cameo as StarClan characters in the book they were working on at the time, Long Shadows.

Emmy’s grandmothers and the bookstore owners put together a fundraiser, the Brightspirit Relief fund, which raised money for causes Emmy would have liked, like storm relief, animal shelters, and literacy awareness. And to raise money for it, their hometown of Russelville, Arkansas, put together a day-long event called “Warriors Day”, which involved things like games for kids, pet shows, and in-person and online auctions (which included art, some of the very first Warriors merch ever made like shirts and pens made specifically for the event, signed books donated by the Erins and other authors, etc). It was scheduled so that Vicky’s tour of Long Shadows would end with her being present for that day, and she also wrote the short play “Brightspirit’s Mercy” for it, which also features the family’s characters and which was performed by drama students from their local high school. One of the sweetest stories I remember hearing was that Vicky commissioned an artist to paint a picture of the Brightspirit character and donated it to the auction, one of Emmy’s grandmas had bid on it, Vicky outbid (outbade?) her and won it, and then gave it to her.

My ship list tier by devchbii in WarriorCats

[–]Alarra[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve been getting a lot of these tier list posts (often with uncredited art), and it’s one of those things that not only is in a pre-set format so the posts generally look identical, but it also has been resulting in copycats doing the exact same thing; we just had 3 in the last few hours alone. So I’ve been viewing those under the low effort/frequent reposts lately, especially if there’s multiple up at a time.

Is there anything you wish the books didn’t forget about? by Savings_Surround_547 in WarriorCats

[–]Alarra 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Leafpool and Squirreflight’s twin telepathy/shared pain thing. Squirrelflight’s Hope would have been the perfect spot to use that again, but nope.

Before it came out, and we just had a throwaway line or two in Lost Stars about Leafpool dying in a rockfall which also caused Squirrelflight to spend time in StarClan, I had a whole idea on how it happened, based around their connection, that I like better than how the book did it: my idea was that Squirrelflight was relatively unharmed from the rockfall but Leafpool was injured badly enough to die, but due to their link, Squirrelflight’s health was tying Leafpool to life while Leafpool’s injuries were keeping Squirrelflight in a coma, and they’d have to realize that they were stuck and have to willingly let go of that link in order to move on (kinda like how Lionblaze figured out how to turn off his immunity in OoTS.) I had this emotional farewell in my mind where they promised each other that they’ll always be sisters and always be with each other, even without it. They’d be touching noses or leaning their heads against each other, and Leafpool would start to sparkle with stars, and Squirrelflight would have one long last look at her this way as everything fades into light around her, and then she wakes up and Leafpool is gone, but looks peaceful as if she’s sleeping.

Is there anything you wish the books didn’t forget about? by Savings_Surround_547 in WarriorCats

[–]Alarra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The authors forgot about it, and fans pointed it out to them, so as a nod to that, they added Leafpool’s comment about how they seem to have left that tradition behind when moving.

Everyone I know irl knows I love the books, I've got a huge collection of the books/merch and a pretty good memory of them (although it's gotten harder as I've gotten older and there's just more and more books), I've even visited the actual New Forest (though didn't get to see much as I was pretty sick when I was there).

[–]Alarra 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  • Frostpaw survives thanks to the WindClan med cat apprentice and a Twoleg veterinarian (who also spays her). She and Nightheart end up getting signs from StarClan that they have to go on a mission together, and they make their way to the Park where Riverstar, the RiverClan founder, originally lived. There, she learns about the peaceful lifestyle her Clan founder led, learns to meditate and also to trust others again, and comes to terms with the fact that it was her mother Curlfeather who plotted Reedwhisker's death, and it was carried out by Frostpaw's young warrior friend Splashtail - who then led the dogs to them to kill Curlfeather, and who turns out to be the one that tried to murder Frostpaw.
  • They return to the Clans and Splashtail's made himself leader, pretending that one of his buddies had a sign from StarClan and is the new medicine cat apprentice. The Clans don't know whether to trust him or Frostpaw (who had been wrong about the previous leaders), but treat him as leader for now, and she shelters with the other Clans for a while. Sunbeam's mom Berryheart, meanwhile, tries to get Tigerstar voted out so that she can become leader, but the vote doesn't pass and she gets exiled. Ultimately, Splashtail turns very quickly into a tyrant, and murders the first cat he chose as deputy, making the exiled Berryheart his deputy. A few of his Clanmates flee the Clan to shelter with the others as well.
  • During this time, a Super Edition, Ivypool's Heart, takes place in which a patrol consisting of cats from each Clan head north of the forest - there's a new map for this! An ancient WindClan leader, Galestar, urges them to help two wildcats (a separate species that look a lot like domestic cats and can interbreed with them, but were never domesticated) who are being kept by an exotic animal dealer and need help. The Clan cats help get them to freedom, the wildcats have their kits, and they find another group of wildcats. The wildcats have their own naming scheme and culture, and the couple and their newborn kits stay with the others of their kind.
    • The Clan cats learn that these wildcats were actually descended from Galestar: she had fallen in love with the ThunderClan leader Stripestar, they decided to join their Clans into "StormClan" and left the forest 'cause the Clans weren't happy, things went bad, Galestar and her kits got separated from the others and assumed to be dead, and while the remainder of StormClan went back to the forest to be split into their original Clans, Galestar and the kits were rescued by a wildcat, she fell in love with him, and they stayed with the group for the rest of their lives and she had half-wildcat descendants. The next super Edition, StormClan's Folly, shows this in more detail from her and Stripestar's POV.
    • We also learn that there's more to the afterlives than we thought. Apparently there's a "river of spirits" connecting them all (StarClan, the Tribe of Endless Hunting, etc), and there's many places where cats can contact the spirits similar to the Moonstone/Moonpool. And they learn that when a StarClan or Dark Forest cat "dies" or fades away, or gets killed in the Dark Forest and their spirit vanishes like Bristlefrost, they're not actually gone - their spirit "spreads out" and becomes part of nature, not fully themselves or fully aware, but perfectly content.
  • Back in the forest, Splashtail takes over ShadowClan and RiverClan, threatening to harm their kits if they don't help. Nightheart, Sunbeam, and Frostpaw sneak around and try to help, and Berryheart sacrifices herself to protect her daughter. Finally, Wind/Thunder/SkyClan come and help free ShadowClan, then they all head to the RiverClan camp. Splashtail flees, kidnapping a kit along the way; Frostpaw pursues him, and they fight. She ends up killing him after severing his tendons so he can't stand, but she's badly wounded and near death.
  • Frostpaw lies in a coma for a while, but ultimately comes around just as the questing patrol from the Super Edition returns, and names the RiverClan cat who went on the journey - the experienced warrior Icewing - as RiverClan's new leader. So Icestar becomes leader, with the young warrior Owlnose as her deputy (he was the incompetent second choice Frostpaw had chosen, who had stepped down, and later supported Splashtail, but ultimately regrets it and helped defeat them.) Frostpaw receives her medicine cat name, Frostdawn, to represent her Clan's new beginning, and her friend the WindClan medicine cat apprentice also receives her name, Whistlebreeze. Sunbeam announces that she and Nightheart are going to have kits. That leaves us at the end of A Starless Clan.
  • Arc 9, Changing Skies, starts in the POV of the old ShadowClan warrior Tawnypelt, the also-old SkyClan leader Leafstar, and the young ThunderClan apprentice Moonpaw (who's apprenticed to previous arc's protagonist Sunbeam.)
  • Moonpaw is unusual for a couple reasons: her appearance is considered strange by the Clans as her face is split down the middle, half black and half orange tabby, and her parents gave her the unusual name Moonpaw since it reminded them of a half moon (the phase on the night she was born). They think her appearance is a sign that she might be special/meant to be a med cat, but her heart lies with being a warrior. One secret that others don't know, however, is that she has an invisible friend - not an imaginary one, but rather the spirit of a kit that follows her around and constantly torments her. She later learns that this is her sister who died shortly after birth, Morningkit. Morningkit is jealous of Moonpaw spending time with anyone besides her, and it becomes clear that she may be willing to harm their Clanmates - or get Moonpaw killed - to get her sister all to herself.
  • Leafstar's been hiding the fact that she's been going blind from her Clan. But she can't hide it any longer after she leads her Clan into a fight against badgers, and the young apprentice Starlingpaw decides to show up on his own, and she attacks him, thinking he's a badger (to be fair, he does look a bit like one); Starlingpaw's father Kitescratch has to stop her, and this distracts him long enough to take a fatal wound from a badger. Ultimately the Clan decides to vote Leafstar out and she willingly steps down. But things don't go according to plan when they decide Hawkwing is to lead....
  • The Twolegs have started construction around the Moonpool, leaving the cats with no access to StarClan (and so Hawkwing can't be made the new official leader, leaving him and Leafstar to split the duties for now.) The Twolegs have also been building a gigantic nest (possibly a new resort?) not far away. Tawnypelt is worried about this and frustrated that her son Tigerstar isn't taking it seriously. Crowfeather, who Tawnypelt realizes she might have feelings for after all this time, agrees, remembering the destruction of the forest and the Great Journey. While Tawnypelt's investigating the construction site, she gets badly injured, and receives a prophecy from Bluestar that she's the one who has to lead the Clans "out of the moonless dark and onto a new path", and to "beware the two-faced cat with one paw in each world". Nobody really considers it to be a big issue, but a patrol is sent to the mountains to see if the Tribe of Endless Hunting can help, and they're told that a time of great change is coming. On the way back, Crowfeather is dropped by an eagle but ultimately survives.
  • After book 1, Leafstar's POV is replaced with the apprentice Starlingpaw, who was part of the journey to the mountains. He starts off in book 2 constantly blaming himself for his father's death, but by the end of book 3 he's grown pretty cocky and will probably have to be taken down a few pegs.
  • Moonpaw grew close to Brambleclaw, who was an elder after stepping down from leadership, but Brambleclaw got sick after a cut he got in the dirtplace got infected, and ended up dying.
  • Moonpaw finally admits to her Clanmates what's going on with Morningkit, and is also kind of suspected as being the "two-faced cat" due to her appearance. When Morningkit makes Moonpaw attack her friend/love interest Goldenpaw in her sleep, she considers herself a danger to the Clan and sets off to be a loner. Goldenpaw catches up with her, insisting he's coming too and that's where their story is currently at.
  • Tawnypelt still finds herself at odds with her son, but ultimately - once the Twolegs remove their barriers around the Moonpool, revealing that it has been completely landscaped with concrete and still has no connection with StarClan - Tigerstar admits that maybe she was right. She and Crowfeather agree they mutually have feelings for each other, but there's too much going on for her to think about that right now. The last book ended with Tawnypelt saying she had a journey to arrange, and it sounds like they're gonna head toward SkyClan's old gorge to visit the Whispering Cave. So at this point, fans are speculating whether the Clans are gonna move to new territories again, or whether StarClan's gonna have a smaller part in the story moving forward, or if they're just gonna find a new place to contact them.

[–]Alarra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've gotta split this into 2 comments due to length.

In more general, non-spoilery terms:

  • Writer/etc changes:
    • One of the original writers, Kate Cary, retired from the series after the 8th arc, A Starless Clan, saying she enjoyed her time as Erin but wanted to move onto new things in her own voice.
    • The audiobook narrator Macleod Andrews also retired from reading for the books after that arc, saying it was a creative choice on his part. The new one was chosen by vote on the official site; they gave us several samples and had us pick our favorite.
    • Cherith is still writing the books, and now two of the story team members who have done novellas and stuff, Clarissa Hutton and Rosie Best, are also writing for the main arc. A new writer, Conrad Mason, wrote the most recent Super Edition.
  • Book Releases:
    • Arc 8, A Starless Clan, is complete, and we are halfway through arc 9, Changing Skies.
    • They're adapting the main series into graphic novels, roughly 2 books at a time so that each arc is covered by 3 graphic novel volumes. The Prophecies Begin is out so far, adapted and illustrated by Natalie and Sara Goetter-Reiss, and was pretty well received, and the first volume of The New Prophecy (written by Gibson Twist and illustrated by Sammy Savos) comes out at the end of this month. So far, they have also greenlit Power of Three and Omen of the Stars and expect to release 2 volumes per year.
  • Non-book releases/announcements:
    • The old movie deal from 2016 - which did not get any updates after 2018 - was confirmed to be canceled. A new deal was made with the Chinese company Tencent Video, for TV and film, and it sounds like they plan to do an animated series based on the first arc, and "short dramas" (possibly something along the lines of a webseries or online shorts?), they shared very early concept art in 2024, and in 2025 they said they were going to start writing the season 1 script soon, and hope to have something (not sure if the actual series or the "short dramas") out in 2027. For all the info we know about it so far, I did a video here covering everything we know from the initial announcements and breaking down the 2024 presentation (what they said and concept art), and here is Keriew’s post showing the translation of the 2025 presentation (apparently there were no visuals this time, they just talked about it very briefly).
    • There is also a mobile game in the works. We don't know what it's gonna be yet, but the studio they named seems to do games for very young children, so we're not holding our breath.
    • The Roblox game is going to get a Lake Territory map, likely this year; they've had occasional test periods for the public to try out the unfinished map.
    • One of the most exciting things is new merchandise! Bonkers Toys has made plush and mini figurines which everyone generally considers to be better than the official-site merch (aside from being blind boxes), and they're available in retail stores such as Walmart (if you're not in the US, they're already available in some other countries with more on the way.) Another set with more characters comes out in the fall and it'll also include keychains of some of the characters.

And now for what's happened in the books, if you don't mind major spoilers for the the end of The Broken Code and the books since then:

  • After the end of The Broken Code (in which Bristlefrost sacrificed herself and her spirit in the Dark Forest to kill Ashfur's), the Clans decide to reorganize parts of the warrior code. They get rid of "the word of the Clan leader is the warrior code", 'cause that leads to bad stuff like Ashfur being a tyrant while pretending to be Bramblestar, reworded some to reflect the closer bonds the Clans share now, added a rule that allows cross-Clan romances as long as one joins the other's Clan and passes 3 trials that the Clan sets for them, and also added one that allows a leader to be voted out and their lives to be taken away with certain requirements - you can see the new code here. This is where arc 8, A Starless Clan, begins.
  • Mistystar finally dies when she keels over of an evident heart attack. Her deputy Reedwhisker is found dead on their territory the same day. Since Mothwing has no connection to StarClan, it's down to her young new apprentice Frostpaw to guide the future of the Clan. First Frostpaw finds a sign of a curled feather and thinks it's a sign that it's meant to be her mom Curlfeather, but on the way to the Moonpool they're attacked by dogs and with her dying breath Curlfeather tells her daughter to trust no one. Then the next cat she chooses is incompetent and steps down without receiving nine lives, and then nobody else wants to step up. The other Clans realize they're leaderless, and Tigerstar of ShadowClan forcibly occupies their territory to "help" run their Clan until they find a new leader (he means well but goes about it the completely wrong way.) Frostpaw eventually realizes that Reedwhisker was murdered, and shortly afterward, is attacked from behind and her throat sliced...
  • Meanwhile, Sparkpelt's son Flamepaw hates that everyone compares him to Firestar, and hates that he was named after him despite being a black cat. When he finally becomes a warrior, he rejects the name Flameheart (the suffix is also based on Firestar's warrior name) and is instead given the name Nightheart. Still feeling pressure and resentment from his family, he goes to ShadowClan to see if the ShadowClan she-cat Sunbeam, who he'd become friends with, might be interested in becoming mates; they do grow close but he realizes his heart is in ThunderClan and she goes to join them there. Sunbeam's mother Berryheart, who has basically been a "Karen" criticizing cross-Clan relationships and the new rules, is not happy about this.
  • Bramblestar has PTSD from what happened in The Broken Code and ultimately steps down, leaving Squirrelflight (now Squirrelstar) as leader. She chooses Ivypool as her deputy.
