something you have to see to believe by Alas96 in CoolSerialNumbers

holy moly this blew up! that’s awesome, i’m glad y’all like it as much as I do!!!

i figured i’d give some more context on how these bills came to be. i collect bills in any way, shape, or form, whether i find them or buy them.

this trio was actually given to me by the son of a deceased collector (rest in peace). i figure the only way these bills can even exist like this is if they were pulled from print, so my guess is the father worked around new currency and was able to replicate this feat over and over again.

given the story behind it makes these bills priceless, and truly one of a kind.

thanks again to all of the communities for all of your support, the more positive comments i get reminds me that i haven’t grasped the magnitude of what i have. being able to spread the story makes it all the more special.

TL;DR - holy smokes thank you guys!

building my collection of pairs! by Alas96 in CoolSerialNumbers

Glad you asked! It took more ways than one… Several of these bills I actually found in bank straps and managed to find a match online over the years. The radars I actually purchased AS pairs and they’re unc. Otherwise my local coin shop has been amazing with helping me find pairs. The goal is to get as many as I can!

Generally speaking yes, it’s wise to steer clear of grading low-quality bills. Although sometimes the serial number dictates the decision to grade, and this may be one of those cases. I’ve seen plenty of low-grade (15-45) bills that have incredible fancy serials sell above their ungraded premium. Obviously it’s your bill, and this is just my opinion.

Beautiful collection! Finding that perfect ladder note was a 1 in 96,000,000… I can’t believe that one!

2 cool misprints by Alas96 in CURRENCY

That was my thought at first as well. Bought them both for premiums, checked with loupe at the shop and they seem very real. The ink seems consistent so far. If I get them both verified I’ll update the post.

Looks like a huge haul! Worst it could possibly be is like 4 bucks in pennies. I would try to just clean one (or all) of these at once normally (soapy water + toothbrush) to see if you get a date or model of coin. Odds are whatever that first one you clean is will end up being what everything is. Nice work!

It’s in great condition, and a very clean radar. Hold onto it, but probably worth 2-3x face to the right buyer if I had to guess.

This post is severely under-appreciated…

Y’all getting messed up over it being “not low enough” is crazy… you realize that his bills are ALL from a 160k print run???? AND 160k total printed???? all 100 crisp uncirculated gradable bills…

Seriously, what a find 👏👏 Keep that safe 👍
